THIS IS A REALLY NICE CLEAN PASSAT, SO IT COMES STANDARD WITH POWER WINDOWS, SUNROOF AND LOCKS, WHICH WORK FINE, CRUISE CONTROL, AM/FM/TAPE, ALL WORKING (I DIDNT CHECK THE TAPE FUNCTIONALITY). STEREO SOUNDS GREAT.
THE 1.8 LITER 4 CYLINDER TURBO CHARGED ENGINE RUNS EXCELLENT, IT GETS YOU A VERY COMFORTABLE RIDE WITH ITS 30+ MPG ON THE HIGHWAY
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE WHEN COLD- WHEN IT WARMS UP IT SLIPS.
THE SUSPENSION IS EXCELLENT, TIRES LOOK TO BE ABOUT %75, THE BRAKES STOP WELL, WITHOUT PULSATIONS, SQUEAKS OR VIBRATIONS
THE COSMETIC CONDITION IS REALLY NICE- INSIDE IS VERY CLEAN,LEATHER IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, CARPETS ARE VERY NICE. THE EXTERIOR IS VERY NICE TOO!
THE CAR DRIVES EXCELLENT.
THE HEAT WORKS AND THE A/C NEEDS A CHARGE FINE.
MECHANICALLY HERES WHAT IS GOING ON.
ENGINE RUNS FINE BUT IT NEEDS AN OIL COOLER. WE CANT FIND SOMEONE THAT CAN WORK ON A VW WITHOUT MAKING IT WORSE SO THEY REMOVED THE OIL COOLER AND NEVER USED THE ONE WE BOUGHT (THEY JUST BYPASSED IT)
THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE BEFORE BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY DID TO IT- WE DROVE IT A GOOD 60 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS, AFTER THE MORON MECHANICS TOUCHED IT NOW THE TRANS SHIFTS PERFECTLY WHEN COLD- AFTER 20-30 MINUTES THE TRANS SLIPS. IT COULD BE LOW TRANS FLUID BUT I DONT KNOW FOR SURE. YOU ARE BUYING IT WITH A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS AN OIL COOLER WE WILL GIVE YOU THE PART.

Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood
Fri, 26 Jul 2013Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.
Recharge Wrap-up: First VW e-Golf in US up for auction, meet Project Ain't Fuelin'
Tue, Oct 14 2014Volkswagen is auctioning the first e-Golf in the US to raise money for Global Green USA. The auction is live now, and bidding goes until 3:30 pm Eastern on October 29. Global Green USA will use the proceeds to help find solutions to climate change, and the winner will get to enjoy emissions-free driving before the car e-Golf goes on sale in November. If you don't live in or near California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington DC, you might want to sit this one out, as the car will only be available to pick up at dealers in those initial launch states. Go bid now, or learn more in the press release below. Berlin, Germany will use Solaris electric buses for a complete bus line in 2015. The downtown line will run 3.8 miles between Zoologischer Garten Station and Sudkreuz. The transport operator Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) will use four of the Solaris e-buses for the test, each about 39 feet long. The buses use a 200-kilowatt inductive charging system at the ends of the line to recharge in just a few minutes. The government-funded test runs through 2016, but BVG pans to use the electric buses beyond that timeline. Read more at Green Car Congress. The American Petroleum Institute (API) is worried that the Obama administration will use ethanol requirements to influence a Senate race in Iowa. In the midst of a close race against Republican Joni Ernst, Representative Bruce Braley, the Democratic candidate, is urging Obama to reject a cut in the Renewable Fuel Standard. The November election approaches, meanwhile the EPA continues to delay issuing an ethanol requirement for the year, with or without its proposed 16-percent reduction. Rejecting the cut could help get farmers and ethanol producers on the side of Braley. "We are very concerned that the signals we are seeing from the administration is that the political calculations are outweighing sound fuels policy," says API's Bob Greco. Read more at Businessweek. Project Ain't Fuelin' aims to fix up old cars to return them to original fuel economy, and then surpass it. Episode 3 of Valvoline's Under The Hood video series features Daniel Gray of MPGomatic, who is doing just that to a 1999 Honda Civic HX Coupe. He aims to get 50 mpg out of the old Civic by tuning it up, tinkering with the aerodynamics, switching to more efficient tires and other modifications.
