Passat wagon for very cheap, now is your opportunity. This 2001
Volkswagen Passat GLS V6 is now available for NO RESERVE. The wagon is perfect
for anyone that needs cargo room, passenger room, and wants good fuel economy.
You don’t have to sacrifice one for the other anymore! Please read the full
description. INTERIOR:
The cloth seats are in good shape with no rips or tares. The
sunroof works perfectly and the heat blows hot. The heated seats are very
effective and feel great. The radio is showing signs of no power so it will not
come on. The driver master switch is missing; a new or used one will plug right
up and work just fine, the other windows work. There are no offensive odors coming from the interior.
The unique wood grain is still in great shape. The fabric on the door panels is
not adhering on the door properly. A simple labor charge by a professional can
glue this right back together. The original window sticker is still with the
vehicle along with the owner’s manual. This is usually a good sign. EXTERIOR:
The body is straight and there isn’t any rotting from any rust.
There are some close ups on the minor imperfections below. Other than a few
bumps and dings, the body is still presentable. The tires are in good shape
with a lot of tread left, and I haven’t noticed any slow leaks. These will not
need replacing anytime soon. MOTOR/HANDLING: I drove this wagon for 30 minutes without any issues. The Passat was difficult to jump start after is sat for a couple
weeks. After the car warmed up, it stayed idling with no issues. It was hard to
see but there was some very light smoke coming from the engine bay. This didn’t
have a strong odor, but it went away after some time and then came back. When
the car is warmed up it ceases to stall, rpms are steady, and it starts
accepting a charge from the alternator. Putting it into gear has a slight jerk
to it sometimes and the acceleration is not all that responsive at very low RPM’s.
After about 2k rpm’s the car acts normal. The acceleration is fine, the
transmission shifts very smooth and when it should. The brakes are quiet and
are very effective. The powered steering is smooth and quiet, same with the suspension.
Currently the brake warning
light, abs, and check engine light are on. The brake light will flash. We do
not know what the issues are and we are willing to let the car go to anyone who
has the patience or time. This is not far from being a great car, a little bit
of time and this could be a great deal to the right person. If you are
interested in purchasing it, feel free to message me so we can create a deal. Please remember, I am not a mechanic. Thank you for looking and happy bidding! Volkswagen Golf Variant Concept R-Line puts the sport in SportWagen
Wed, 06 Mar 2013With the introduction of the newest Volkswagen Golf Variant, we get an early look at what will most likely be the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here in the US. To further wet our appetities, VW is now teasing something a little sportier with the Concept R-Line. Looking the part of a GTI wagon (or a stretched Golf R), the Golf Variant Concept R-Line has a production-ready appearance that has us hoping we'll see this sporty wagon sooner rather than later.
The R-Line starts off with a new fascia that isn't quite as aggressive as the recently introduced GTI, but it gives the new styling some extra punch. Below the fascia is a lower splitter that visually carries back into the rocker panel extensions, and the rear of the car gets some bright exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint job probably does enough on its own to add a sporty flair to the Golf wagon, and it's all finished off with 18-inch split-spoke wheels. Inside, the Concept R-Line shows off sport seats wrapped in carbon leather featuring blue nappa inserts in the middle.
Rightfully so, VW brought the Concept R-Line to Geneva with its TDI and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. A sporty, all-wheel-drive diesel wagon? Yes, please. Scroll down for the full press blast with all the details.
VW bringing fuel cell concept to LA Auto Show
Mon, Nov 17 2014Amid the flurry of hydrogen announcements from Toyota and Honda last night, Volkwagen has something to add: a new hydrogen fuel cell concept vehicle. This will be the first VW hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in many years – remember the Tiguan Hy-Motion back in 2008? – and it comes as a bit of a surprise. First written up by the German publication Wirtschaft Woche, VW is going to have the prototype car (not pictured) available at the ride and drive at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this week. We don't yet know what kind of vehicle will sport the hydrogen powertrain, but our money's on a Golf variant. We'll see soon enough when we get to Los Angeles. What's interesting is that there have been a number of not-so-mixed messages out of the VW executive ranks when it comes to hydrogen vehicles. VW's Japanese president, Shigeru Shoji, said in September that, hydrogen fuel cells, "may fly within Japan, but not globally." Last year, VW's electrification head Rudolf Krebs said that "hydrogen mobility only makes sense if you use green energy." Also last year, VW CEO Martin Winterkorn said it's basically impossible to build hydrogen vehicles at a "reasonable cost." Nonetheless, we're going to see a new VW H2 concept soon. Thoughts?
VW decides against active-cooling system for e-Golf lithium battery
Tue, Apr 1 2014When the 2015 VW e-Golf was introduced at the LA Auto Show last year, VW said it would come with a water-cooled battery. During the Detroit Auto Show, when the car was trotted out again, VW released a new press release that stripped out the "water-cooled" language, but this change went unnoticed. During a recent VW event in Germany, a friend from Green Car Reports realized that the battery on display did not seem to have any water-cooling mechanisms. That set us off on a bit of a sleuthing and we have now learned that VW is not going to include any active cooling in the upcoming e-Golf. In fact, the company is entirely confident that this car - because of what it's designed to do - doesn't need it. "The need for a cooling system wasn't there" - VW's Darryll Harrison VW has been working on an electrified Golf for ages now, and so changes to the plan are to be expected. But battery cooling is vitally important not just to keep the car operating properly but because when things get too hot, there can be serious public relations problems. Nissan began testing a new battery chemistry for the Leaf in 2013 after an uproar from warm-weather EV drivers in Arizona who were experiencing worse-than-expected battery performance. The Leaf has always used an air-cooled battery, which is another way to say that there is no active cooling system (more details here). Tesla CEO Elon Musk once said this approach is "primitive." So, why is VW following the same path? We asked Darryll Harrison, VW US's manager of brand public relations west, for more information, and he told AutoblogGreen that VW engineers discovered through a lot of testing of the Golf Mk6 EV prototypes, that battery performance was not impacted by temperatures when using the right battery chemistry. That chemistry, it turns out, is lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) in cells from Panasonic. These cells had "the lowest self-warming tendency and the lowest memory effect of all cells tested," Harrison said. He added that VW engineers tested the NMC cells in places like Death Valley and Arizona and found they didn't warm very quickly either through operation, charging (including during fast charging) or through high ambient temps. "The need for a cooling system wasn't there," Harrison said.
