Up for auction is a 2000
Volkswagen Passat that was recently donated to a national charitable foundation
and is being sold with NO
RESERVE. The vehicle is equipped
with a 6cyl engine and automatic transmission. The odometer shows 93,690
miles. It’s fairly well equipped with most of the options. The
seats are blue and appear to be in decent condition, although a good detail
will make a huge difference. The exterior of the car is gray and is
showing signs of wear and is faded. It has a few door dings and
scratches. The tires appear to HAVE ROUGHLY 25% road life
left. Please refer to the
photos included in this auction for more description details. This
vehicle RUNS fair. ***This
vehicle passed smog and comes with a smog certificate.***
This vehicle comes with
a clear California Title and its Registration was valid
through 3/14. All taxes, fees,
and penalties due to the DMV, are the responsibility of the buyer.
This vehicle was
donated! Therefore we do not have ANY
information regarding the history or condition of the vehicle other than what
we can see. We do not perform any
physical or mechanical inspections on the vehicle. No vehicles are test driven so we cannot
vouch for any drivability nor condition of the motor or transmission unless it
is evident when the vehicle is dropped off.

Vehicles not paid for in full within three (3) days of end of
auction will be subject to a penalty of $50.00 plus $20.00 PER DAY in storage
fees (storage fees are not negotiable and must be paid prior to release of

Vehicles not paid for within one week of end of auction will
result in buyer’s privileges revoked and vehicle to be relisted on ebay.
We accept cash in person, credit card (Visa and MC and Discovery only)
and PayPal (up to $1,000.00) only.
Cashier’s checks may be used for payment but vehicle will not be
released until cashier’s check clears (up to three business days).

discovered after the purchase of the vehicle there will be no recourse offered

Recharge Wrap-Up: Tesla, CarCharging and the EPA
Sat, Aug 23 2014Credit Suisse analysts are bullish on Tesla. The group gives the electric car company's stock an "outperform" rating with a target price of $325. For its continued success, Credit Suisse cites the vehicles' superior technology, in turn offering more torque, roominess and reliability. Says analyst Dan Galves said of Tesla's competition with ICEs, "If Tesla can get to cost-parity with Internal Combustion vehicles and still offer $1,400 to $2,500 per year fuel savings to the consumer, it won't be a fair fight." Read more at Yahoo Finance or at Business Insider. In other Tesla news, Tesla Model S owners will be able to unlock and start their car using an iPhone. The Tesla app is adding this functionality soon, perhaps with the update to iOS 8. It's not yet clear how this function will work, but it's one more innovative convenience feature that Model S owners can enjoy. CarCharging Group has remotely lowered the amperage on some of its residential users' Blink charging stations to 24 amps. This will slow down the charging time for affected customers with 6.6-kilowatt charging by about 15 percent. The company cited safety reasons for the move, with concerns about overheating. The amperage reduction is temporary, until CarCharging is able to provide replacement parts for the chargers. Some are concerned about the delayed action, as well as the fact that the reduction was handled without owner permission. Read more at Plugin Cars. Ford is halting test drives and sales of certain C-Max hybrid and Focus models due to a safety concern. Cars made during a single week this month at a Michigan factory may not have enough ball bearings in the steering gear assembly, which could lead to loss of control. None of the affected cars have been sold, Ford says, and about 50 units are currently at dealerships. Just over 600 will need to be recalled. Dealerships have been notified of the problem. Tue, 05 Aug 2014Inexpensive, small pickup trucks used to be everywhere in the US, whether they were from Japanese brands like Datsun or Toyota, the truly weird Subaru Brat or even from Europe with the Volkswagen Caddy based on the Golf. These days that market has completely disappeared, but if you're willing to pick up some tools to build your own, there's a company out there bringing the Caddy back as a kit for the Jetta.
Mark Smith knows a thing about building a vehicle at home. He has over two decades in the DIY-car business as a co-founder of Local Motors and the company that became Factory Five Racing. His latest venture is Smyth Performance and already offers a mid-engine, VW-based kit called the G3F. His new product, though, started as a fluke. "I just wanted a shop truck," said Smith to Autoblog. He already had a Ford F-450 but found that he was driving around with the bed empty most of the time. The result was a pickup truck based on the fourth-generation Jetta that he dubbed the Ute.
The kit retails for $3,500 and ships in three, big boxes, and it's designed to be built and painted in a weekend. Buyers get fiberglass exterior panels, a fiberglass rear window surround, sliding rear window, an aluminum reinforced bed with a tubular steel subframe, taillights, a fully functional steel tailgate, and other parts. In the end, you get a vehicle with a six-foot bed and a payload of around 700-750 pounds. The Ute maintains all of the factory suspension, fuel tank and emissions equipment and requires just a few cuts in the body to complete. "We did a modern Caddy," admits Smith.
