I have decided to sell my Passat. I bought this car in 2010 as a temporary car to get me back and forth to work because I worked 50 miles away from home. I ended up loving my Passat and ended up keeping it, I just bought a 2013 Passat TDi and no longer need two diesels.
If you are unfamiliar with the VW TDi, it is a near bulletproof diesel engine known to go 500,000 to 750,000 miles with little effort.
I take excellent care of my cars and this one is no exception. It drives and shifts like a brand new car. I would estimate 90% of the fuel I have run has been BP which I think is the most premium fuel around here, and every tank has had stanadyne fuel additive added to it. Every oil change has been done at 5k miles with Rotella T6 and either a WIX or NAPA Gold filter. The interior is in very nice shape except for one stain on the carpet (orange soda). The exterior is also in very nice shape, clear is peeling over the right mirror and the right fender molding is missing.
A little overview of its recent service.
At 165k
Tires, Inner tie rods, right CV axle, and all 4 struts were replaced
At 189k
Timing belt and water pump was replaced (all parts from boraparts.com), Injection pump was rebuilt (for those of you in the TDi world Alex with VeeDUB auto repair rebuild it and preformed the hammer mod)
At 193k
Both front wheel bearings, both front ball joints, both outer tie rod ends, both strut bearing, and left CV axle were all replaced
The bad:
Car has a rebuilt title
Small oil leak: I believe it is the rear main seal. I never had it fixed because it only leaks about 1 quart over 5k miles

Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.
