Karman Ghia Convertible 1974. 98% original. 35,700 documented miles.

A good investment (increased 15% in last year according to Hagerty’s) that comes with more fun than should be allowed.

This car has been driven less than a 1000 miles a years in it’s 40 years. I am the second owner. Always garaged and rarely driven in rain.

Maintenance for the first 24,000 miles was religiously performed by the Volkswagen dealer that sold the car new. See picture of maintenance stamps in the original owner’s manual.

This Ghia is as pure a version of an original condition unmolested convertibles as you are likely to find. The 1584 cc engine, seats, carpet, dash, drop top, head liner, transmission, and trunk are all original, untouched and show no signs of wear. The exterior was repainted the original zambezi green color over all rust free panels about 12 years ago.  The tires have been replaced save for the spare that is original to the car.  The rocker panels and chassis pans are solid as new.

The VIN, date plate, and bulkhead numbers all match as recorded in the original owner’s manual.

This car performs as new with a strong running engine with no drips that starts every time, smooth shifting, excellent braking and a tight and smooth suspension.

Items that you may want to attend to:

-1 1/4 in. star chip in windshield.

-2 1/2 in. scratches in drives side window.

-Front drivers side bumper bracket boot is torn.

-Front passenger side lower wheel well has a 2” rust through.

-Carpet throughout is soiled but no stains.

-Paint surrounding the passenger side Karman badge has (2) 1/4 in. chips. Just to primer, no rust.

-One wheel cover has small rust area.

Not even a meticulously restored Karman Ghia can replicate the character, patina, and scent that this original vehicle shows.

Byron then talks about his time with two very different new vehicles: the 2021 Buick Envision luxury crossover and the 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line, which may or may not be a sport sedan. New investor allows Suzuki to fend off VW

Tue, Aug 4 2015

After years of legal wrangling, the long-soured partnership between Volkswagen and Suzuki looks finally to be coming out of arbitration, according to Bloomberg. As a sign of the Japanese brand's improved fortunes, hedge fund Third Point LLC recently bought an undisclosed stake in the company. The investor reported seeing a major opportunity in the successful Maruti Suzuki business in India. As an investment, the only major problem that Third Point found with Suzuki was its legal battle with VW. "The company's greatest asset is its low-cost manufacturing process for vehicles for the emerging market consumer," the fund said in a letter, according to Bloomberg. Third Point reportedly also wants a seat on Suzuki's board, despite being a minority shareholder. The alliance between Suzuki and VW goes back to late 2009. In the deal, the Japanese brand was meant to get access to cutting-edge tech, and the German firm got a helping hand towards better establishing itself in India and Southeast Asia. Things didn't go as planned, though. Less than two years later, Suzuki's boss publicly derided the deal. Eventually, the allegations started going back and forth, and the two have been working out a way to untangle practically ever since. Among the biggest issue has been how to get back the 19.9 percent stake that VW purchased. According to Bloomberg, the arbitration is now technically over. With the divorce nearly final, the two sides are just waiting on a decision on how to split things up. Suzuki may even just buy VW's stake to get the shares back.
