1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Vw Excellent, Original, 59k Miles on 2040-cars
Rapid City, South Dakota, United States
I am selling my 1970 Karmann Ghia. I purchased the Ghia about 4 years ago from a woman whose husband had bought the car for her as a gift. She was unable to drive a stick shift so the car sat for 13 years covered in her garage. And, from the warranty voucher I can see that it was originally purchased at Trans Ocean Motor Co., Inc. in Pasadena, California on 2-14-70.
After getting the car home and running the engine was leaking more oil than I would have liked (I assumed from the seals drying out from sitting) so I re-sealed the engine. While the engine was out I also installed new Mahle pistons and cylinders and had the heads rebuilt by Painter's Grinding. I also replaced the clutch disc, throw out bearing, and installed a new muffler. The engine runs great, the transmission shifts as it should, the brakes work correctly. I replaced the dry rotted tires with the correctly sized Vredestein tires from Coker Tire and had the front end aligned. The car had been repainted the correct red. This 17+ year old single stage paint buffed out great. There are a few dings and scratches in the paint but overall it looks great. The only rust I can find is the two small rust holes in the engine compartment below the battery. And there are some bubbles on the lower passenger door that may have rust underneath I don't know but they have not changed in size. I cannot find where any previous collision or rust damage has been repaired. The pans and inner fenders are also in great shape. The only thing I did to the interior was clean it. The original interior is very presentable. The original AM/FM radio works, the speedo and gas gauge work, the clock does not, and the heat and defrost work well. The dash has a few cracks, there is a burn in the driver's seat bottom, and the rear passenger floor mat is hard and cracking. This is a nice running /driving Ghia and I believe the miles to be correct. I have taken it on two separate 1,000 mile road trips and it never skipped a beat. Please email me with any questions or if you need any specific photos. |

10 best new car deals in late September 2021
Wed, Sep 29 2021New car sales were drastically affected in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things started to show signs of recovery toward the end of the year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Now there's an ongoing shortage of microchips causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. That doesn't mean there aren't still great deals on new cars, though. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for September 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board
Wed, Apr 3 2019Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.
