Up for sale is my 2009 VW Jetta TDI Sedan. This car has only 28,983 original miles and looks, runs and drives beautiful! Car is black on black. I purchased the car late last year for my wife but she wasn't thrilled about the color or the lack of GPS (go figure). So more recently we replaced it with another vehicle and this one has to go.  It has several options like Satellite radio, heated seats (cold weather package), factory Ipod hookup, etc in addition to the many nice features VW includes as standard. Trans is the Automatic DSG and its a TDI so it gets 45+ miles per gallon!!

This car is incredible and I have no complaints whatsoever. With the ridiculously low mileage it runs and drives like it should. Mechanically it is perfect.....brakes have plenty left, tires are new, etc. The body is also in excellent shape....the only imperfections are 1 small ding and a few scuffs down near the tailpipe (please see pics). This is black so you would see EVERYTHING and as you can see it is spotless.

I want the buyer to know exactly what he or she is getting so I want to disclose that I purchased this car with a salvage title, thus I am offering it at a lower price. It was involved in a LIGHT front-end collision by the previous owner. The damage was high up on the car and therefore it was minimal, just bolt on parts, and we had it fixed at our local professional body shop here outside of Houston. There was absolutely NO FRAME DAMAGE and I have a statement from the body shop confirming this. I am even posting a pic of the car as I purchased it before it was repaired. Like I stated I want the buyer to know exactly what they are getting, so I have no problem disclosing this damage. I have nothing to hide and am confident this will make someone a great car with zero issues. The previous owner was a teacher right in Houston, so it was female adult-owned and well taken care of and it shows.

If you have any more questions or would like to come see the car and test drive it please feel free to contact me.

We accept cashier's checks, money orders, wire transfers or 3rd party financing. Funds must clear before the buyer receives the title. The buyer will receive a rebuilt salvage title that is clear and ready to register. A deposit of $1000 through Paypal is required within 48 hours after the purchase of the car. Full payment is due 5-7 days after the purchase. We can help with any arrangements regarding flying in to pick the car up or with shipping the car.

Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits

Wed, 15 May 2013

The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
