Up for sale is my 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8 Liter turbo with an automatic tiptronic transmission. The car currently has 86,472 miles. I am the second owner and was bought with 83,000 miles back in March. The 3,000 miles were babied miles. Car has recently had coolant flush, oil change, and alternator change at 86,000 mile mark. The timing belt has not been done yet but it has some mileage before that should be done. The car has been meticulously maintained and cleaned every week. It averages 24 city/32 highway with conservative driving. I have never abused or raced the car just used it as a daily driver. The car mechanically is stock but it does have an aftermarket JVC radio and stubby antenna. The body is in good condition but the rear bumper does have some scratches on it. for a 9 year old car it still has good paint to it. It has leather heated seats (no rips/tears), sunroof, alloy rims, tilt, cruise,a/c, heat, etc. The only problem is that the check engine light has recently came on and flashes on and off and I haven't had the Time to get it checked out. Other than that the car drives perfectly with no signs of problems. I am selling this car as is. Good luck and happy bidding!

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads
Fri, Sep 11 2015Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.

VW LogBox and Race App performance data logger for R models [w/video]
Tue, Dec 30 2014Now that it's got a 300-horsepower Golf R to brag about, Volkswagen wants you to be able to brag about it accurately with the LogBox and Race App performance data logging combo. Plug the LogBox into your VW's OBD II port and it sends data over BlueTooth to the Race App, measuring variables like acceleration, distance, G-force and engine performance. If you're on a circuit, it uses Google Maps to make a map of the track, and you can record live video in-app to match with the data. Volkswagen says the LogBox will be available for R models and "a range of further Volkswagen cars," so you'll want to hit up your dealer with questions before ordering. It's available from the VW accessories store for 299 euros ($365 US), but right now the free app is only available in German, in the German-language iTunes and Google Play store.
