2003 Vw Jetta Vr6 2.8l - Arizona Car - 6 Spd Manual on 2040-cars
Glendale, Arizona, United States
We are selling our 2003 Volkswagen Jetta VR6 2.8L, 6 spd
manual with 130k miles on it. The
vehicle is not running. It looks as
though it blew the head gasket. It has
new tires and a new battery not even a month old. This is an Arizona car, which are highly desirable since we don’t go through the harsh winters - salted roads, rust and corrosion issues are not a problem for us. The Jetta is black with a black interior, it is a very sharp car and in good condition considering its age. I’m selling it as is and giving the opportunity for someone to do the repairs necessary to end up with a really nice car at a good deal. The current book value is $5900 and I have included an image of the book sheet for you to verify. I’ve got many projects that I want to get to and this VW is down my list of priorities right now. Not to mention its 100+ degrees and I really don’t want to do the repairs in this heat. If it does not sell now I’m okay with keeping it and doing the repairs when the weather cools off. This is an incredible opportunity for you to own a highly desirable AZ car at a fraction of it's actual value. Please expect to either replace the head with a rebuilt one or rebuilding the current head – but it would be foolish not to do this since it will be off anyways. My assumption at this point, not having the motor torn down, is that the head, head gasket and new fluids should get this beautiful car back on the road. Again, this is an assumption since I have not taken the topside of this motor a part yet to verify exactly what is necessary. Regardless, at this low reserve price, whatever is necessary even up to replacing the entire motor will leave you in a good position value wise to what you are paying now. There are your typical dings & scratches which are to be expected with a vehicle of this age. There is a tear in the drivers seat which I have shown in the pictures. Please understand, this is a 2003 vehicle and you should expect the typical wear and tear that you would see on a car that's 11 years old. If you need more pictures, please ask for them. If you need more information about the car, please ask before you bid. Please understand that you are responsible for shipping this car in its present non-running condition. You need to make arrangements with your transportation company and make them aware of this. The Jetta is advertised locally and I do reserve the right to sell it outside of this auction at any time and cancel this auction. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of completion of this auction. The balance can easily be handled with a bank wire transfer, a certified bank cashiers check or in cash if you live local and plan on picking it up yourself. The vehicle must be paid for in full within 7 days of the completed auction and before the vehicle will be released to its new owner. |

Toyota holds onto crown of World's Largest Automaker
Thu, Jan 22 2015Although there were hints and allegations that the Volkswagen Group might have taken the global sales crown for 2014, the final tally puts Toyota at the top with 10.23 million sales in 2014. We should really say it keeps Toyota at the top, since that makes three years in a row the Japanese company has been No. 1. Volkswagen Group came in second with 10.14 million units sold, General Motors in third with 9.92 million units sold. This the first time for both Toyota and Volkswagen to pass 10 million sales in a single year. Toyota, including its Hino and Daihatsu divisions, did it with a three-percent increase in company-wide sales on the back of strong demand in Japan and the US. Its strength in developed markets might be the reason it loses the title this year, though; Toyota forecasts a two-percent gain in sales outside of Japan, but a nine-percent drop in its home market because of a new consumption tax that encouraged buyers to purchase before the end of last year. On top of that, turmoil in Southeast Asian economies like Thailand and Indonesia depressed sales in 2014 and they're facing more headwinds. The company envisions 10.15 million sales in 2015. Volkswagen, on the other hand, "has a jet engine strapped to its back called 'China,'" where Toyota is out-of-sorts. Volkswagen Group sales fell 2.9 percent in the US last year, while Toyota gained 6.2 percent here. But Volkswagen roped in 3.7 million sales in China, a 12-percent increase. Toyota enjoyed a huge bump of 12.5 percent in China, but that only got it to 1.03 million units, missing its yearly target and leading to trouble with its Chinese dealers over unsold inventory. With Toyota on the Chinese sidelines while Volkswagen guns for No. 1 status and pledges more production capacity in China – sales there are expected to top 25 million units this year – it looks like this could be the year the VW Group takes over the lead. That would be three years ahead of its original target of 2018. An analyst in Japan said Toyota is more focused on "keeping profitability than chasing numbers" – profitability is an issue for VW right now – so Toyota might not be back at the top "for [the] coming years." Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line
Mon, 14 Jan 2013
Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs
Sun, Mar 2 2014Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun. For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany. In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe." Even Fiat, another automaker long considering a budget brand beneath its Fiat line-up, wasn't sure how to squeeze any extra money from lower-cost products but was sure that it couldn't be done by manufacturing in Europe. If VW hasn't yet made the math work with a joint venture in China, it will be interesting to see how it might build a European go-it-alone business case.
