HERE IS A 2006 VW GOLF 4 DOOR HATCHBACK.  GREAT SHAPE, LOW MILEAGE (ONLY 27,400).  NO SCRATCHES, NO DENTS, NO DINGS.  JUST PUT BRAND NEW TIRES (EAGLE S) ON IN NOVEMBER WHEN IT WAS INSPECTED.  INSPECTION GOOD UNTIL NOVEMBER 2014 IN PA.   THIS IS AN EXTRA CAR THAT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE GOING TO KEEP, BUT REALIZED IT JUST WOULDN'T GET DRIVEN ANY LONGER, SO DECIDED TO LIST IT.  NO ISSUES SINCE WE'VE OWNED IT FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS.  GREAT IN SNOW.  DARK GRAY EXTERIOR, LIGHT GRAY INTERIOR.  PUT A NEW AUDIO UNIT IN LAST YEAR, (JVD APPLE IPOD READY IN DASH CD UNIT).    ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK.

LASTLY, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PMI (PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION) DONE, THAT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.  WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD THEM DONE ON ANY CARS WE PURCHASED BEFORE WE ACTUALLY PURCHASED THEM.  OUR LOCAL PEP BOYS DOES THEM AND THE COST IS $25.  WE WOULD BE GLAD TO ACCOMODATE YOU AND HAVE THE CAR BROUGHT THERE TO HAVE IT DONE, HOWEVER, YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $25 PAYMENT TO PEP BOYS.  WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM MAIBACH FORD IN OHIO TWO YEARS AGO AND HAD THIS SAME INSPECTION PERFORMED BY PEP BOYS BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT.  WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

ANY WHITE SPOTS ON THE CAR ARE REFLECTIONS FROM THE CAMERA AND SOME SNOW/ICE AROUND THE BOTTOM EDGE THAT MAY HAVE NOT MELTED OFF YET.

Volkswagen Golf R Variant ready to haul ass, stuff

Thu, Nov 20 2014

Volkswagen seems to be playing a cruel trick on the American automotive public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's displaying its sexy Golf R Variant with no clear intention of actually selling the model here. The hot wagon launches in Europe in the spring, but the automaker makes absolutely no mention of the model's prospects in the US. Hopefully, its appearance in LA at least indicates VW is considering bringing it stateside. The great thing about this wagon is that it has everything that the regular Golf R offers, but there's even more room to carry stuff. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Performance is very close, too, with the Variant R taking 5.1 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour versus the 4.9 seconds the standard R needs to read 60 mph. The two of them also have the same tech goodies like ESC Sport stability control and multiple damping modes. The real advantage to opting for the estate is its ability to carry up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo in the back. This hot rod wagon would seem to be perfect for the family that needs to haul some extra junk in the trunk, but doesn't want to sacrifice performance. Whether the Variant R makes it to the US remains a mystery, though. Scroll down to read the specs and feel a twinge of jealousy.

Italian investigators search Lambo headquarters in VW probe

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Italian investigators searched Lamborghini headquarters on Oct. 15 to look for evidence of managers' involvement in Volkswagen's emissions cheating. VW's main office in Verona was also inspected, according to Reuters. Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen, and Lambo in turn is listed as the owner of VW Group Italia. Authorities wanted to find out if employees were conscious that the vehicles were skirting emissions rules. "It is one thing if I sell water and pretend it's wine, but if I sell water believing it is wine it's different." Verona chief prosecutor Mario Giulio Schinaia said to Reuters. Italian newspaper Gazetta del Sud reported that several managers in Italy were under investigation for alleged fraud. Prosecutors in Germany have also been rigorously investigating VW, and they recently staged a similar raid on the company's headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. The automaker reportedly turned over documents and other data relating to the software defeat device. Meanwhile, VW's internal investigation has turned up little wrongdoing, though a recent leak suggested otherwise, and at least 30 managers could have known about the defeat device. The automaker has disputed that figure. Volkswagen of America CEO Michael Horn testified before Congress that he believed only a few individuals were involved. The situation hasn't been easy on VW in the US, either. The Department of Justice has also been pursuing an investigation into the automaker. Plus, state attorneys general are filing lawsuits against the company for defrauding customers. VW has until Nov. 20 to explain a repair for the problem to the California Air Resources Board. Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.
