You are biding to purchase a 1996 Volkswagen Golf GL 5 door hatchback that has been driven on average less than 2,200 miles per year, far less than 15,000 the industry average. These miles are confirmed thru Car Fax,Auto Check, the prior owner and without question the very nice condition of the vehicle. These are the kind of miles you would normally find on very pricey 2011 and 2012 models but hardly ever on a 1996.

                          ****************************************

In these difficult economic times and with the price of fuel steadily climbing we feel the fairest way to sell this vehicle is to let you the buyer set the price, yes you. After all isn't that the best way to buy,you price it?

                          **************************************

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car produced by the German manufacturer since 1974 across 7 generations. They have a steller reputation for generous fuel mileage (19mpg city/26 mpg highway), above average safety ratings, reliability and the lowest cost of ownership in their class.Just plain good value for the dollar. They have been saving their owners many dollars over many years and continue to  do so today.

                           ************************************

We find this little VW clean from front to rear with minimal cosmetic imperfections (EG: dings, dimples scuffs ect.) We see no corrosion on the doors, fenders, pannels or undercarriage. All lenses, trim and moldings are clean and straight. The original factory finish (suede silver metallic) still has that new car luster (obviously this vehicle has spent much of it's time garaged). The windshield is clear and clean showing no stone bruises, cracks or wiper mar. There are a very fresh looking sel of all season steel-belted radials riding on the original factory rims with all wheel covers present and the unused spare and all jacking hardware stowed properly. The interior is as neat and tidy as one would ever expect to find on any vehicle of this vintage. The dash shows no sun fade or degradation, the original headliner is clean and tight with no evidence of any water leakage from the sunroof. The upholstery and carpeting show no signs of abuse or neglect with very little wear, without question very well looked after.

                                **************************************

After acquiring this vehicle we took it directly to our certified tech who has been with us over 25 years.Atfer a 1 hour road test at speeds to 65 mph and some routine service checks he had nothing but compliments saying ''that is a sweatheart''.The well proven 2.0l EFI four cylinder engine fires to life with the click of the key.We see no oil leaks or smoke around the block or from the exhaust. On the drive the acceleration is strong, the front end is tight and pleasing with no errant axle noises (as is sometimes the case with front wheel drive vehicles),the automatic transmission shifts on point thru the gears and the brakes stop the vehicle confidently with no pull or shudder. The air conditioner works quietly producing excellent cooling. There has recently been a very nice am-fm /cd player tastefully and professionally installed. We see no issues with the heat, defrost, power door locks, power sunroof or safety equipment. In our op[inion this little ''gas mizer'' has been very well maintained and is sure to serve it's next lucky owner with many miles and many years of trouble free service.

                                       *********************************

Whether you need a reliable little commuter or a great starter car for that new driver in the family that won't break the bank this little gem is certainly worth a look. Please keep in mind vehicles of this vintage in this condition with these kind of miles are few and far between and are rarely found on a ''no reserve'' auction but are normally passed down by a senior family member.Bid early, bid often and above all bid to win,you have found that ''needle in the hay stack''. This little beauty awaits the last bider.Someone out there is going to win this vehicle for a more than reasonable price, why not you? As always you are welcome to come take a look, listen or drive prior to biding and we encourage this.We are just west of Annapolis,Maryland, zip code 21061.To out of town winner we offer free shuttle service from Baltimore's BWI airport or Am track rail station.Any questions or concerns please e-mail or call Tom or Mike @ 410-207-2168.

Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn told European regulators that more stringent emissions standards too soon will be a major problem for automakers. He says that such moves could prove "fatal" for an auto industry that is still working to develop cleaner vehicles. "Every gram of CO2 that we save in our European fleet costs our group almost 100 million euros," says Winterkorn, "100 million that we have to invest in advance, without knowing when these investments pay off." He says that already creating emissions targets beyond those set for 2020 could harm European automakers competing globally. Read more at Automotive News Europe. When a Detroit Chevrolet dealership lost its Internet connection, it turned to one of its Chevy Volts for a temporary fix. After the regular connection at Buff Whelan Chevrolet went down, it plugged in a Volt showroom model equipped with 4G LTE, and used its connection to resume business. The car can handle up to seven connected devices, so the team used a Malibu to connect the rest of its computers. Porsche 911 and Nissan 350Z get smoked by unlikely hero

Mon, Jun 1 2015

So a Nissan 350Z Procharger and a current Porsche 911 GT3 drive onto the Autobahn together - stop me if you've heard this one before - and they decide to race. We're not sure how much power the Z is packing, but the stock model topped out at 306 horsepower on the last year of its run in 2009. And if that's a stock GT3 then it will be rocking something like 475 horsepower. So the Z and the GT3 give it a racing go, and just as one of them starts to pull away they're both overtaken by one of the most unlikely dark horses you could imagine. It's a really short video and we won't spoil the surprise, so check it out above. Audi CEO says brand's EVs are almost as profitable as its other cars

Mon, Oct 4 2021

After, oh, a hundred years or so of building vehicles primarily powered by internal combustion engines, automakers around the world have been and still are pumping billions of dollars into the development of electric vehicle technology. Everything from platforms and batteries to motors and the software to control it all requires untold hours of development, and that takes time and money. Fortunately, it's not going to take long for that massive investment to start paying off, at least according to Audi CEO Markus Duesmann, who told Reuters in an interview that "The point where we earn as much money with electric cars as with combustion engine cars is now, or ... next year, 2023. They are very even now, the prices." As a brand, Audi contributed more than a quarter of overall profit for the massive Volkswagen Group, which has such powerhouse brands as Volkswagen and Porsche among others. Under the Audi umbrella are Lamborghini, Bentley and Ducati, and it seems those high-end branches aren't going anywhere, at least for now. "These brands ... are very valuable very profitable brands, where we can even expand the synergy level in the future," Duesmann said in the interview. "There are no plans whatsoever to get rid of them." Despite the overall profitability of the brand, the ongoing global chip crisis is causing headaches. "We had a very strong first half in 2021. We do expect a much weaker second half," said Duesmann, who added, "We really have trouble." In fact, so serious is the trouble that the brand is forced into "a day-to-day troubleshooting process" to limit the chip-shortage damage. The good news for the automaker is that Audi has been able to boost its profit margin from 8% prior to the pandemic in 2019 to 10.7% in the first half of 2021. The bad news is that various chip shortages aren't expected to get a whole lot better over the rest of the year. Related video:
