2011 Volkswagen Golf Tdi, Manual 6-speed, 4-door, Excellent Condition on 2040-cars
Crawfordsville, Indiana, United States
2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI Background / History I am the original owner. I purchased the car on December 31, 2010 from Mike Raisor Imports in Lafayette, Indiana. This car has been my primary transportation for my 48-mile (one way) commute to work since I purchased it. I really like this car but will be driving my truck for work purposes now. If I was to buy another small car right now, it would probably be another Golf TDI just like this one. The Car's Life / Condition The car doesn't know what a cigarette is - it has never been smoked in at any time. The car has never been used to transport pets of any kind. It has never been wrecked in any way. I don't drive it hard although it is an excellent handling car. I don't hypermile it - it gets great mileage all on its own. More on mileage - If you're looking at this car, you probably have already done the research on fuel economy - it is outstanding. I typically average 48+ on during warmer months and a few mpg less during winter (due to winter fuel blend). Trips exceeding 50 mpg have been common. The interior is in excellent condition. Only interior blemishes I know of are small scratches in the plastic at the rear hatchback (visualize sliding something into the back of the car). The exterior is in very good condition. There are only three exterior blemishes that I know of - a door ding, rock ding in the hood, and a small crack in a headlight cover from a rock (see photos). Maintenance All maintenance on the car has been performed either by Mike Raisor Imports (the dealer I bought it from) or by me. I have records of these services, including photographs (when I did the work). The brakes are original and don't squeak, pull, shake, etc. To answer a common question, I don't know how much life is left in the brakes - they will need to be replaced at some point. I don't drive the car hard (my truck has over 160k on the original brakes). Extras I have an extra set of aluminum wheels with Michelin X-ICE snow tires, purchased through TireRack for about $1000. The car doesn't drive poorly in the snow even without the snow tires, but I am a big believer in them - a lot cheaper than a wreck. The snow tires are included in the auction. I have about $150 worth of oil and filters which I will include with the car. This includes 10 quarts (or the metric approximate) of the VW approved synthetic oil, oil filters (at least 4), a fuel filter, air filter, & cabin air filter. Shipping / Payment A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of winning the bid. Shipping is not included in the purchase price of the car. The winning bidder is responsible for delivery / pick-up of the car. A bank check or cash is acceptable payment. Your payment will need to clear before I release the car and sign the title over. |

VW Group recalls 27k Touaregs, Audis and Porsches for fuel leak
Tue, Jan 27 2015The Volkswagen Group is one of the most expansive in the entire industry, and shares parts across more product lines than we could wrap our heads around. So when the German megalith finds a fault in one of its components, it has the capacity to spread like wildfire. The latest set of recall notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covers vehicles from the Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche divisions. The problem revolves around the fuel injection system, which could potentially leak and cause a fire. The recall affects – deep breath now – the 2012 VW Touareg Hybrid, the 2011-12 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid and Panamera S Hybrid, 2011-12 Audi S4, S5 and Q7 and the 2012-13 Audi A7. All told, that amounts to 27,376 units, the owners of which can expect to hear from the manufacturer to have the fuel rails replaced, along with their corresponding seals (having nothing to do with marine mammals writing letters). RECALL Subject : Fuel Injection System Fuel Leak Report Receipt Date: JAN 20, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V019000 Component(s): FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE Potential Number of Units Affected: 26,008 Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. SUMMARY: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Audi S4, S5, Q7, 2012 Audi A6, Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, and 2012-2013 Audi A7 vehicles. In the affected vehicles the fuel injection system may experience a fuel leak. CONSEQUENCE: A fuel leak in the injection system in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire. REMEDY: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel rails and corresponding seals, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 10, 2015. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834 or Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's numbers for this recall are 24AP for Audi customers and 24BK for Volkswagen customers. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. ### RECALL Subject : Fuel Injection System may Leak Report Receipt Date: JAN 20, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V016000 Component(s): ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,368 Manufacturer: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Ford Mustang Mach-E fails Sweden's moose test
Wed, Sep 29 2021The infamous moose test has claimed another casualty. This time it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, which was tested in an electric four-way alongside the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Skoda Enyaq iV (an electric utility vehicle closely related to the Volkswagen ID.4 that is sold in the United States). According to the Swedish testers at Teknikens Varld, Ford's electric car not only failed to hit the speed necessary for a passing grade, it didn't perform well at slower speeds, either. To pass the outlet's moose test, a car has to complete a rapid left-right-straight S-shaped pattern marked by cones at a speed of at least 72 km/h (44.7 miles per hour). The test is designed to mimic the type of avoidance maneuver a driver would have to take in order to avoid hitting something that wandered into the road, which in Sweden may be a moose but could just as easily be a deer or some other member of the animal kingdom elsewhere in the world, or possibly a child or car backing into the motorway. Not only is the maneuver very aggressive, it's also performed with weights belted into each seat and more weight added to the cargo area to hit the vehicle's maximum allowable carrying capacity. The Mustang Mach-E only managed to complete the moose test at 68 km/h (42.3 mph), well below the passing-grade threshold. Even at much lower speeds, Teknikens Varld says the Mach-E (which boasts the highest carrying capacity and was therefore loaded with more weight than the rest of the vehicles tested in this quartet) is "too soft in the chassis" and suffers from "too slow steering." Proving that it is indeed possible to pass the test, the Hyundai and Skoda completed the maneuver at the 44.7-mph figure required for a passing grade and the Tesla did it at 46.6 mph, albeit with less weight in the cargo area. It's not clear whether other versions of the Mustang Mach-E would pass the test. It's also unknown if Ford will make any changes to its chassis tuning or electronic stability control software, as some other automakers have done after a poor performance from Teknikens Varld, to improve its performance in the moose test. Next-gen Volkswagen Golf R spied while running the 'Ring
Tue, 16 Apr 2013The launch of a new Volkswagen Golf is never a small thing, and things are already looking up for the subcompact hatchback after it was named 2013 World Car of the Year. While we've already seen the base and GTI versions of the next-generation Golf, now we're getting our first look at the sportier Golf R.
Although this prototype wears GTI lettering on the front fenders, it's more than just the roll cage and Sparco racing seat hinting that this is something a little more serious. Unlike the Golf and GTI, this car shows that the Golf R will continue to flaunt massive air intakes on each side of the fascia, and the rear of the car (though it's hard to see) has quadruple exhaust outlets. We still don't have an official word on power, but rumors indicate that the next Golf R could be pushing close to 300 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Golf ever. As much fun as we had during our first drive of the Golf R Cabriolet in the cold, snowy French Riviera last month, more power is a warming idea.
