2010 Vw Golf Tdi White 3dr Manual Trans 40k Mi Sunroof 1 Owner Excellent Cond on 2040-cars
Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
Excellent TDI which I had planned to keep forever and cared for accordingly. Broke it in very gently, varying speed, short trips, no highway during break in. No door dings, perfect paint except for a few small chips due to highway use. I'll have them touched up before car is sold. Lots of washing (including underbody) during winter (only 2 winters in MN). Underneath car is perfect- no sign it has been through a MN winter- looks just like a southern, unsalted car. Never been in a carwash with brushes-- touchless or hand wash only. Always garage kept, hand waxed 2x/yr. No accidents of any kind, no body work/ paint ever. Only adult driven, by me. It is an amazing car, getting >40 mpg on the highway even with rack. Serviced by a trustworthy local VW dealer and has had all service on time. I personally verified correct oil for changes by talking with service technician and verifying full/mt bottles of Castrol LL03. Just had 40k mi service. New OEM battery because I replace them every 4 years- nothing wrong with old one New wiper blades. I have all fuel receipts. It has averaged 38 mpg for all fuel consumed. Curt trailer hitch and trailer light plug. I have only towed a tiny boat a very few times, but it tows this small boat beautifully. Towing capacity is 1000lbs and my little boat/motor/trailer is less than that. Comes with Thule rack and fairing, a bike tray and a top case. With fairing, rack is very quiet, though does cost 1-2mpg. Sunroof is still usable. Rubber VW floor mats for winter and carpet VW mats for summer. 4 winter steel wheels (VW takeoffs) with Blizzak WS70 205/55/16 tires and TPMS sensors and wheel covers. Winter tires probably have 8k mi on them, which means tires/wheels that came with car have about 32k mi. Based on how they have worn so far, I guess they have 20k mi more in them. But wait, There's more! New Frostheater which I didn't get installed last winter. Unopened CarGo things that came with mats. No idea what they do. I don't think you'll find a better TDI than this one, unless you buy a new one, which is probably really what you should do. The supply of used TDI's is always less than demand and so the used ones have very high resale value which is why I bought a new one 4 years ago. You could buy this car new for probably $26k +tax+ accessories ~$2k, if you can find a 2014. I looked really hard for a 2dr manual trans with sunroof. 2015's are due in July and will have urea injection. Yuck. I am not in any way desperate to sell this car, so it won't be a bargain. Winning the auction isn't getting first right of refusal; it is a contractual obligation to purchase the car for the agreed upon price within 7 days. If you want to come and test drive it, please do that before auction is over. If you win the auction, show up with cash or cashiers check for full purchase price or I'm not even opening the garage door. I have MN title with no liens, so purchase will be a snap, but we'll have to go to my local bank for the transaction even if you bring cash because apparently people now make fake cash that is very hard to tell from real. So that means weekday sale, probably (My bank is open Sat morning though). It is for sale other places on web and locally, so I reserve right to end auction early. |

Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign
Sat, Dec 27 2014The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. Then again, Egger could find it time to open an entirely new chapter. Watch this space. VW consumer site finally gets configurator tool back
Tue, Mar 10 2015The traditional vehicle configurator is back on the Volkswagen US consumer website, and it works very well. The company now lets visitors create a virtual model to their own specs and then search for a match among dealer inventories, as is the norm from most automakers. Last summer, Volkswagen tried to break the mold with its thoroughly redesigned consumer website in the US. It sported a slick design but made the highly controversial change of removing the configurator. Instead, visitors were narrowing their selection from a searchable database of models already at dealers. While the streamlined approach immediately told users if their desired car was available, the system also largely hid the prices for options and packages. The newly tweaked design retains the previous tablet-oriented layout, but after clicking a model, the site immediately offers "Build Yours." From there, visitors select a trim, and then the vehicle pops up with options to choose things like colors and packages. The whole layout is clean, features large buttons and works quickly. At the summary page, there's still the opportunity to search for the user's choice in dealer inventories. This is definitely a major improvement.
Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
