In 2008 my girlfriend put a hole in the oil pan and ran the engine dry til it locked up, so the car miles are 165,000 but the engine has around 40,000 on it. I had a new clutch put in it at the same time the engine was replaced. The car has new brakes, tires, and battery in it. This car runs great and is very reliable. It does however have some things that need attention. The A/C needs to be recharged and the door lock needs replaced. I have had it replaced once already but it has broke again. There is a dent on the driver side fender due to a tire falling off. The leather interior was mint until 2 years ago i left all the windows down and sun roof open for a thunderstorm. When the car dried out the leather on the drivers seat became brittle and cracked. Also could use some struts. Also needs to have new air bag sensor installed. These are all cheap fixes. You are bidding on my late model 1999 volkswagen gti. It has the mark 4 bodystyle because it was manufactured in Dec. of 1999. I bought this car since 2005 with 98,000 on it. I needed a four door car so this got replaced by a 530i, that is the only reason that i am getting rid of it. It kills me to see it just sit. This will make an awsome vehicle to commute to work with. It gets great milage and is very reliable. I have had no complaints with the car whatsoever. I am sad to see it go but it has to go. We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.

Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show

The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.
