2000 Volkswagen Golf 1.8t 4-door automatic.

This car runs great, but the transmission is having trouble. I've tried to get it working, but it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. A rebuild kit is available for around $400 or a used unit can be found for around $1000 plus labor.. please look into it and get quotes before bidding! It does still drive in reverse and 3rd gear and can be driven a short distance (not cross-country or anything)

I've replaced many of the cooling system fittings as they are made of plastic and tend to disintegrate over time. I've also replaced most of the hoses, along with the valve cover seal and oil filter housing seal.

Replaced the stereo and speakers (sounds great!)

The electric door locks partially work, but the back doors tend not to unlock with the keyfob. Driver's door lock is missing the knob.

All windows work well.

Drivers door needs the hinge replaced (I have one to give you). The door opens and closes but the spring (stop spring) that keeps the door from swinging freely is broken.

Paint is oxidized on the hood and roof. Needs a serious buffing or repaint. The rear bumper is flaking and needs a repaint.

Aside from the above, the car is in decent shape for a 13 year old car.

I am the original owner. I love the car, but had to buy another car as the transmission work is out of my reach currently.

Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen

In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.

J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners

Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
