hi and thnx ~!~ this car was a recent auction sale and caught my eye. I try to attend estate and donation sales, as you never know what you might find. this car appealed to me because I had the exact same car 10 years ago!! blue, 5 speed, diesel, tan cloth, crank windows, hubcaps and the same clear coat paint issues on the hood and roof. I drove that car till 211,000 miles and trade it for a 1998 Passat, and really loved the car.
this VW does not have low miles (but not too bad), it is not the prettiest, it has only cloth seats that are showing age, but.... it runs great. clean and straight panels, decent rubber, good brakes, horn, wipers, lights, glass, runs strong, great motor, no leaks, tranny fine, clutch fine. around town or at 70 mph on the road, a pleasure to drive. and, as I recall, don't forget about the 45-50 MPG ratings this car and I enjoyed.
but, it is an older car and far from perfect. the radio is an updated KENWOOD cd w remote, the rocker panel on passenger side has a rust spot, the right front fender has a bump and scuff, interior is tan and shows wear and some tear, drivers door panel/handle has a small split, hood and roof paint have typical clear coat peeling (only there), there is one remote and key fob and it is broken so I use just the key.
car runs and drives like a champ. motor is super clean and dry, newer belts and hose, clamps, battery, etc., you can tell at a glance. the car is fine to drive and expect cheap and reliable transportation for now and the future. this is a low eBay priced car and I expect you folks know what is right for you, so no reserve.
please feel free to bid and buy, call or email and or just come by. say hi and take a drive. inspections are welcome anytime. I have sold a dozen cars on eBay recently, and thank you, all is and went well. but, a number of times I am shipping cars or having them picked up. I have a shipping agent I use nearby in Stamford CT. please give me a chance to help you with delivery at no extra cost. thank you >> j. bettes 203.258.33556 .> 800 Clinton ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604

Recharge Wrap-up: Jaguar Land Rover talks EVs, Batteries should be modular
Wed, Sep 3 2014A new study out of Germany suggests adopting a modular approach to battery offerings in plug-in hybrid and extended range electric vehicles. Automakers could offer the same car with different battery sizes (and different costs, accordingly) to drivers depending on their driving ranges. This would optimize the total cost of ownership for various drivers better than the current approach. Developing a modular battery design and offering appropriate batteries for different customers "is the key for electric powertrains to meet customer expectations and become cost competitive against conventional technologies," according to the report from the Institute of Vehicle Concepts, German Aerospace Center. Learn more at Green Car Congress. Jaguar and Land Rover are looking to offer more electric driving from their vehicles. Wolfgang Ziebart, head of product development for Jaguar Land Rover, said in an interview that its hybrid system is being tweaked for more electric power and "downsized" combustion. He also said the likely target market for EVs would be second and third vehicles, rather than primary vehicles for urban driving. Within that market, Europeans look for something smaller, while American drivers lean toward larger luxury vehicles for their second car. Ziebart uses the Tesla Model S as an example of American tastes, and compares its size to that of the Jaguar XJ. Read more at Automotive News Europe. Thailand will likely approve a Volkswagen factory as early as next week. A German newspaper suggests that Thailand's Board of Investment is set to greenlight the plant, which is planned for a site near the Port of Bangkok. Thailand is a relatively large and growing auto manufacturing country, which seeks to be a major producer of eco-friendly vehicles. The country's "Eco2" program would provide incentives to Volkswagen if it builds clean cars and meets certain production targets. Read more at Reuters. Formula E has chosen Sky Deutschland for broadcasting rights in the German market. The deal includes television rights, as well as online broadcasting. Sky Deutschland has 3.8 million subscribers in Germany and Austria. Showing the races on Germany's largest pay television provider should help generate interest for the series, particularly the Berlin ePrix - the inaugural season's penultimate race - scheduled for May 30, 2015. Watch the VW E-Golf get made
Fri, Jun 13 2014If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party.
