First, please not this vehicle is not a Beetle, it is a Type 3 Fastback. Carsforsale.com automatically lists it as a Beetle. This is really a cool little car. We purchased it from a charity auction without knowing much about it. And of course when you buy cars online, there are often surprises....The body is a bit rougher than we had suspected. It is't terrible for an original car, but there are dents and a few rust spots and places that have been touched up. We bought it not running, so the good surprise was to find out that lots of good service had just been performed and only a blown fuse was keeping the engine from running perfect. No doubt the last owner gave up after doing so much and then still not being able to get it started. The original fuel injection is in awesome working order. In addition to the engine being strong, the automatic transmission also works great, shifting perfectly as it should. The brakes have all been replaced. Our service was mostly getting all the lights to work, servicing the rear brakes, replacing the tires, new tie rods and an alignment - so really all small items. This IS a good car and we have no doubt the mileage is 111k both from notes found in the car and the overall condition. The interior is especially indicitave of a well kept, low mileage car - the headliner is extremely good, the seats and carpets show below average wear. Neat options include the automatic transmission, a trip odometer and a very cool Blaupunkt picnic radio. The owners books are present. Also included are shop manuals and a bunch of brand new seals - engine, trans, doors, trunks, windows etc. Obviously this is an old car so we will gladly answer any questions and provide as much information as possible. Our vehicles are prepared for sale by Foreign Accents, and are located in the front section of the Foreign Accents parking lot. We are committed to offering clean, properly serviced, fairly priced automobiles. We assist with financing when possible and also have a Certied Pre-Owned program that extends the warranty coverage on some of our newer inventory. Please call or email us for more details.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

VW Beetle R is one mean bug

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Volkswagen's R lineup currently consists of the Golf R in North America, and the too-cool-for-school Scirocco R in Europe. It hasn't exactly been a secret as to which VW would next get the R treatment; the German manufacturer reportedly confirmed that a hotter Beetle would be coming to the US. That announcement, in August 2011, was followed up by a production-ready Beetle R Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After some wait, we're finally seeing spy shots of the Beetle R in Germany. The mule shown in the images here is wearing the R-Line bodykit, which adds sportier front and rear fascias, side skirts, dual exhausts and a not-so-subtle spoiler. Topped off with Volkswagen's traditional, five-spoke R wheels, we'd be just fine with the Beetle R coming to market as is.
Our spy photographer, though, seems to think that the production R will get even sportier sheetmetal, which we take to mean the more assertive look shown on the Frankfurt show car. Larger intakes on the front fascia, a bigger rear spoiler and vertical vents on the rear bumper could all be upcoming. Whether a production model will include the concept's polished wheels (R cars haven't traditionally embraced that look), vented hood and the quad-tipped exhausts remains to be seen.
