Location:

Ocean Springs, Mississippi, United States

Ocean Springs, Mississippi, United States

It's time to sell our beloved 1997 Eurovan camper.
She's in good shape and she's got a lot of life left in her, but we just don't use her enough.

The camper is in great shape mechanically, but is only in fair shape cosmetically.

We've got a video up here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU6KSVIDOlo

We've also got a huge photo album up here:  http://imgur.com/a/hUOAc

Below is everything we know that's wrong with the van.
We've tried to take pictures or video of all the described issues.
  • Small rust spot on driver's side door sill
  • Driver's side power mirror works, but is sluggish
  • The exterior vent covers and AC adapter cover is missing and/or damaged
  • There are dents in the rear door from a small fender bender
  • The hyrdraulic arms for the pop top are worn, and won't hold the popup erect (we are including a tennis racket that does the job well)
  • The inside cover of the sliding door is damaged and peeling off
  • There's a small tear in the misquito netting of one of the poptop windows
  • The poptop canvas is a bit moldy
  • The deep cycle camper battery needs to be replaced (not the primary vehicle battery)
  • The gear selector cover is cracking up
  • The driver's side rear light / blinker assembly is cracked (but works fine)
  • Two of the tires are pretty old, but probably will last you for a bit
Other than these issues, the camper is in good shape.
If you are at all familiar with Volkswagen Eurovan campers, then you know that they often go for $20,000 or more.
This is a chance to grab one for a lot less because of some small easily serviceable issues.

That being said, this is a used 16 year old vehicle.
We'd be happy to show it to you in person, if you are nearby.
We are also happy to answer any questions you have.

The following is included with the sale:
  • Tennis racket (aka auxillary popup stand)
  • Air conditioner and AC bench to hang off passenger window
  • Oil filter and air filter
  • Tempurpedic mattress cover
  • Various tarps
  • Eurovan camper manual

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

Giorgetto Giugiaro sells shares in legendary styling house to Audi

Sat, Jul 4 2015

Giorgetto Giugiaro undoubtedly stands among the great automotive designers of the 20th century, having penned the original Volkswagen Golf and Delorean DMC-12, among countless others. However, the great stylist is now longer an employee or even an owner of the company that bears his name. According to Automotive News, Giugiaro and his son, Fabrizio, sold their remaining 9.9 percent of Italdesign Giugiaro to Audi on Sunday, June 28, and the two resigned from the business the following day. The news about this just came out, though. The exact reason that the two men left the company hasn't been made entirely clear. According to Automotive News, a statement said that Giorgetto Giugiaro went "to dedicate more time to his personal interests." Italdesign Giugiaro remains open and intends to keep growing, though, the same announcement asserts. After stints at Bertone and Ghia, Giugiaro founded Italdesign in 1968. He created some masterpieces there, including '70s wedges like Maserati Merak, Lotus Esprit, and much more. The 2000s weren't so kind and 90.1 percent of the company was sold to Volkswagen Group in 2010. Former Audi design boss Wolfgang Egger took over styling duties there in late 2013, but he only lasted for about a year, leaving in late 2014. Since the sale, Italdesign has continued to work, including with the Gea concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the very mean-looking Parcour in 2013. Giugiaro's designs are still highly prized, as well. On September 5, Bonhams is auctioning the Maserati Boomerang concept by him and expects to get around $4 million for it. The gallery above offers a few more examples of his and Italdesign's concepts for VW Group over the years.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.
