1 Owner 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan Winnebago Camper V6 2.8 Li Efi Front Wheel Drive on 2040-cars
Edmonds, Washington, United States
Clean one of the last of their kind seasoned 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan Full Winnebago Camper Pop Top. I bought this van new at Carter VW in Seattle to use to travel the country with my wife for our business, the majority of the miles are of the highway variety. I have all the manuals and the complete service record of maintenance by Carter Motors, a Car Fax and an Auto Check Vehicle History Report. I am selling the van because we now fly and stay in hotels rather then drive and stay in camp grounds. After 12 years the van's interior has wear to the rotating captains chair arm rests, the upholstery on seats and sleeping pads is in excellent condition, floor mats are original at the base and very clean, also has removable floor matts ( second set ). Please see the photos to get an idea of the interior and exterior condition as well. As for the body of the van, it is straight. Of course there are many tiny rock chips to the paint on the front, there is a small dent on the side sliding door from some kids who threw a snow ball at us one winter. Headlamp lens has a crack. Van has a blind spot behind the closet area, as a result I backed into a telephone pole and messed up the bumper somewhat, paint is peeling. Pop top canvas is sound, front bug screen has a small tear which I have noted in the photo, all zippers and flaps are in excellent condition, there is a stain at the rear portion of the canvas. Camper includes dual captains chairs which swivel to face the rear of the van, two formica topped dining / card tables, built in two burner propane stone, stainless wash basin and fresh water faucet, Norcold 3 way refrigerator ( operates either via Propane, Outside electricity or RV deep cycle 12 volt battery, LP Gas furnace and thermostat, under seat storage bin, medicine cabinet with mirror, utensil drawer, lower storage cabinet, floor is durable rubber base ( has some abrasions), fresh air hatch, pop top with retractable sleeping platform and bed pad, folding rear seat which converts into a bed with a sleeping pad, a closet with sliding doors, rear hose bib with spray nozzle. Cabin is protected by a carbon monoxide detector, a smoke detector and has a portable fire extinguisher. Every accessory is in good working condition. Over the years I have replaced the fuel pump ( 2 years ago) 2 water pumps. I have never had any major work required for the engine or transmission. I attribute this to the diligent (every 5000 mile) service at a Volkswagen service department primarily Carter of Seattle Wa. and others across the country if needed during a trip as well as a conservative method of driving the van. I just replaced the front ball joints and tie rods, had a new windshield installed, a front end alignment, four new tires and licensed until Feb 2015. If driven and maintained similarly the van will likely last another 280,000 miles, it has also lived in the garage when not in use. Payment method is as follows $5000.00 refundable earnest money due within 72 hours of sale via paypal, e-check or direct bank transfer. Balance including applicable sales tax to be paid upon pick up of van via paypal, e-check, cashiers check or direct bank transfer, cash will also work. At this point the title will be transferred. |

The mood at this year’s Paris Motor Show: Quiet
Tue, Oct 2 2018The Paris Motor Show, held every other year in the early fall, typically kicks off the annual cavalcade of automotive conclaves, one that traverses the globe between autumn and spring, introducing projective, conceptual and production-ready vehicle models to the international automotive press, automotive aficionados and a public hungry for news of our increasingly futuristic mobility enterprise. But this year, at the press preview days for the show, the grounds of the Porte de Versailles convention center felt a bit more sparsely populated than usual. This was not simply a subjective sensation, or one influenced by the center's atypically dispersed assemblage of seven discrete buildings, which tends to spread out the cars and the crowds. There were not only fewer new vehicles being premiered in Paris this year, there were fewer manufacturers there to display them. Major mainstream European OEM stalwarts such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Nissan and Volkswagen chose to sit out Paris this year, as did boutique manufacturers like Bentley, Aston Martin and Lamborghini. This is not simply based in some antipathy on the part of the German, British and Italian manufacturers toward the French market — though for a variety of historical and societal reasons that market may be more dominated by vehicles produced domestically than others. Rather, it is part of a larger trend in the industry. Last year, Mercedes-Benz announced that it would not be participating in the flagship North American International Auto Show in 2019 — and that it might not return. Other brands including Jaguar/Land Rover, Audi, Porsche, Mazda and nearly every exotic carmaker have also departed the Detroit show. Some of these brands will still appear in the city in which the show is taking place, and host an event offsite, to capitalize on the presence of a large number of reporters in attendance. And even brands that do have a presence at the show have shifted their vehicle introductions to the days before the official press opening in an attempt to stand out from the crowd. In many ways, this makes sense. With an expanding number of automakers, with diversification and niche-ification of models and with wholesale shifts that necessitate the introduction of EV or autonomous sub-brands, there is a growing sense that, with everyone shouting at the same time, no one can be heard.
Trump reportedly says he wants to wipe German cars off the U.S. map
Thu, May 31 2018BERLIN/FRANKFURT — A report that U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to pursue German carmakers until there are no Mercedes-Benz rolling down New York's Fifth Avenue dented shares in the luxury car manufacturers on Thursday. An excerpt from German magazine Wirtschaftswoche's article, which cited several unnamed European and U.S. diplomats but did not include any direct quotes, could not be independently verified, while a U.S. Embassy spokesman in Berlin referred questions to Washington. The news and current affairs magazine said Trump had told French President Emmanuel Macron in April that he aimed to push German carmakers out of the United States altogether. Macron's administration in Paris declined to comment on the report. The Trump administration last week opened a so-called Section 232 trade investigation into vehicle imports, which could result in a 25 percent tariff on cars on the same "national security" grounds Washington used to impose metals duties in March. This could destroy exports by German carmakers, which control 90 percent of the U.S. premium market and are the biggest European Union exporters of cars to the United States. BMW owns Rolls-Royce, while Daimler has Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen controls Bentley, Bugatti, Porsche and Audi. Daimler, BMW and Audi declined comment. Porsche was not immediately available for comment. BMW shares were trading 0.5 percent lower at 0939 GMT, while Daimler and VW's shares were down 1 percent and 1.6 percent respectively, underperforming Germany's blue-chip DAX. Trump has railed against German carmakers before. And in early 2017, in an interview with German newspaper Bild, he said he would impose 35 percent tariffs on imported cars. At the time, the president called Germany a great car producer but said that the business relationship with the United States was an unfair one-way street. Germany's auto industry association VDA says its members exported 657,000 vehicles to North America last year, with total exports of vehicle components, cars, engines, as well as second-hand vehicles totaling 31.2 billion euros in 2016. Imports from the United States to Germany amounted to 7.4 billion euros, meaning a trade deficit of 23.8 billion euros the VDA's latest available figures show. However, German brands also have huge factories in the United States, where they built 804,000 cars last year, VDA said, providing jobs for U.S. workers. Berlin has reacted angrily to the U.S.
Five reasons to love, or hate, the culture of German cars
Thu, Mar 5 2015A few months back, we took a 500-foot view of the culture of American cars, dissecting prides and prejudices on our way to the conclusion that automotive allegiances can be simultaneously embraced and derided. We had so much fun with the narrative that we decided to do it again, this time taking a look at Germany and its world-renowned lineup of automakers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, among others. Join us below as we discuss the points and counterpoints that make or have made the German auto industry what it is today. And remember, Germany did pretty much invent the automobile, after all... The V12 Engine If America is known for the proliferation of the V8 engine, an argument could be made that Germany owns the V12. Yes, of course, other companies have created V12 engines – Ferrari, Jaguar and Lamborghini immediately come to mind – but the big 12-cylinder powerplants from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in particular, have proven to be some of the most effortless, luxurious and downright over-built engines the world has ever seen. These days, having 12 cylinders is more a case of wretched excess than ever before, and yet, you can still stroll into your local BMW or Mercedes dealership and get a brand-new 760i, S600 or even an over-the-top G65 AMG, efficiency be damned. Best of all, since the majority of these German powerhouses depreciate as fast as an anchor sinks, nearly any auto enthusiast who dreams of a dozen cylinders can satisfy their carnal desires. Current Star: 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 View 28 Photos Diesel Engines Remember how we talked about those glorious V12 engines? Well, you can even get one from Audi that runs on diesel. If your compression-ignition fantasies err more on the side of fuel savings, that's no problem, either. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen have got you covered, with engines starting as small as 800 cubic centimeters (Smart Fortwo). If you want something a little more practical, it's hard to argue with a VW Golf TDI, which will provide plenty of space for you and three of your best friends, plus a fair bit of luggage, all while returning 50-ish miles per gallon. For the purposes of this discussion, we'd rather focus on the asinine levels of torque provided by Germany's high-end diesel engines than the lower-end fuel sippers.
