Volkswagen Westfalia Type Ii Bus Camper Van on 2040-cars
Ellendale, North Dakota, United States
I purchased this automobile at the beginning of the summer with every intention to use it and enjoy it. However i recently got accepted into law school, which means i wont have anytime to enjoy as i planned.
I have been researching these vehicles for the past few months and this is by the far the cleanest all original Type II westfalia i have come across The interior includes every option possible back in 1976 including -Stove (propane) -Sink -Fridge -Pop-Top (Canvas is in amazing shape no tears or holes) -Closet - Wood Trim is in like new condition (most of the westfalias i have found had faded or warped) -Curtains -Passenger seat rotates 180 degrees with a matching ottoman that you can move throughout the automobile - No cracking or fading in dash As for the motor and transmission - 5 speed manual transmission (shifts like it is was new) - Motor is a cold blooded pig but once warmed up runs like it did the day it rolled out the factory The exterior - Original paint - Zero rust throughout (which i have yet to be able to find on any original westfalias There are a few things that need to be touched up which is expected - There is a small dent above the passenger taillight ( local auto body shop gave me an estimate of $900.00 to fix) - There is one cabinet handle that is broke ( found supplier online selling for $12.00) - Missing the pole that holds the back-seat table (found that piece online for $80.00) Other then these few minor things i have not found anything else wrong with this amazing 1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Type II I encourage anyone with any more questions or wanting addition photos to call or text me at 701-535-0093 I will not ship automobile it is available for local pickup only As far as payment i would like to have a deposit of $500.00 cashiers check (non-refundable) in the mail within 24 hours of close of auction remaining amount to be paid by cashiers check upon pickup. |

Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move
Tue, Dec 6 2016With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift
Fri, Feb 20 2015The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.
