Pro Patina Build 4k Miles Since Completeion 1776 Type 1 Everything New Turnkey on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
I sadly have to sell my sweet bus (tax man). Except for the paint ( witch is OG ) Everthing has been replaced, powder coated or painted. The best of everything: Wolfberg West, Berg, Wagens West etc... NO RUST! Everything new or rebuilt, 1776cc Type 1 engine ( all CB ), new trans, suspension, interior, guages, dash, trim, most rubber, tires, rims, brakes, dropped spindles, steering box, starter w/booster, fuel system, carbs, battery, cables, wiring, fuel lines, hoses, windshield, wipers, seals (about the only remaining original ones are the door seals because new ones make doors harder to shut, but new ones are included in the sale), etc, etc....Everything! I started this bus as nothing but a shell. A perfect, desert shell. The patina on this 100% original finish Red/White combo bus is the best you will find. Could not be duplicated without 40 years of not being repainted, crashed, dented or rusted! I am a 2nd generation VW specialist with 30 years in the industry. I own and operate Honest Engine of Midtown where the majority of work is on Hondas and Toyotas these days, but still have a select special client base for all things VW. I have built literally hundreds of air cooled motors for clients and a few custom complete builds, but this entire bus was built as my personal daily driver / shop vehicle. It has only been shown a few times but already collected trophies. Check the oil, turn the key & go anywhere you want. This is a turn key vehicle and is as-new as a used 74 can possibly be. Did I mention this bus came with A/C? ....not currently functioning but still a cool (no pun intended) and rare accessory to have that could be retrofitted to work again. Sweet Nor Cal Relics roof rack ( powder coated ) Z-bed & table. The whole bus is Dyna Matted, there is a trailer hitch system on it, wood floor, all new rubber mats, AM,FM,CD player w/DVD. 4000 miles on it since it was finished. Please call if there are any questions 916-600-5406. There is really too much to list, if you want a great bus that all you have to do is drive, this is the one. Link to 65 detailed images here: http://s761.photobucket.com/user/car-reras/library/alsbus Below is just a few of the highlights in no particular order. Enjoy. |

VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
How VW's hyper-efficient XL1 will influence the next Golf
Mon, 18 Aug 2014In 2007, the European Union mandated fleet average CO2 emissions of 158.7 g/km. For 2015, that figure will drop to 130 g/km, and the target for 2020 is an ambitions 95 g/km. Thanks to some German politicking, that target will be phased in from 2020 to 2024, but it will still apply to 80 percent of passenger cars in that first year. In US miles per gallon, that's the equivalent of going from about 35 mpg to 42 mpg to 57 mpg. The current Volkswagen Golf is rated from 85 g/km of CO2 to 190 g/km depending on model - and zero for the e-Golf, so for the next-generation MkVIII hatch due in 2019, to meet the goal, Volkswagen engineers will need to introduce a bunch of new tricks. According to a report in Autocar, VW be mining its hyper-efficient XL1 for some of them.
Predictions for the next Golf include a variable-compression engine, an electric flywheel and an electric turbo, along with taking greater advantage of coasting. Volkswagen could be getting help from Audi with the electric turbo and variable-compression engine and electric turbo, with Audi already having shown off the former and brand technical boss Ulrich Hackenberg confirming the VW Group is working on the latter. It's possible the flywheel system could also have the mark of The Four Rings: Autocar mentions a British system that Volvo is testing, but the R18 e-tron Quattro racer has been using one for years.
The need for such features is because the company won't be able to net enough future gains from just aerodynamic improvements and advanced materials. As price will be a factor (the regulations are expected to "add hundreds of euros to the cost of building a car"), adding much more aluminum or carbon fiber is an unlikely option. We're told the next generation won't be longer or wider than the current car, and being Europe's most popular model, VW doesn't want to make a big bet on futuristic aero, but the report says the MkVIII will "likely" have "the most aerodynamic treatment yet seen on a production vehicle," the area where lessons learned from the XL1 will truly be seen.
Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union
Sat, 30 Aug 2014The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
