1979 VW Westfalia. This bus is really nice. I bought it on the spot and it wasn't even for sale. This bus is original with 66,000 miles on it and a rebuild 4000 miles ago. All of the additional stuff that came in these things is here as well. Babies cot, bug screen for the rear hatch, two tables, two six foot beds, a refrigerator, sink, two burner stove.

**AFTER-MARKET UPGRADES** -JUST 3 of them

A remote CD player equipped with line-in AUX and USB inputs.
A 5WATT solar panel for extra charge for the deep cycle batter that runs the "RV" side of the bus.
1 Cup holder :)
The upholstery is perfect. I love this bus!

On Apr-11-13 at 21:44:11 PDT, seller added the following information:

WHO WANTS A BUS? ANYBODY WANT A REALLY NICE RETURN ON AN INVESTMENT?

Listen up..........I have THREE DAYS to sell my beloved bus:(  .  1979 IS THE LAST YEAR THIS MODEL WAS MADE.(No offense to the VAN-again but its not a VINTAGE VW BUS but it's a van-again)

*****Kelly Blue Book Classic Vehicle lists it in between $15,000-$18,500 and with very minimal reconditioning it would easily be around worth $22,000!******

Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.

This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
