BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED 1973 WESTFALIA WITH A SPEEDOMETER READING OF 58,288 MILES. Great daily driver before restoration. JUST COMPLETED A FULL RESTORATION WITH LESS THAN 50 MILES. This bus drives, shifts and handles like new. NEW FULL RESTORATION INCLUDES: Brand new base coat clear coat paint job with quality automotive DuPont products inside and out, bumpers, rims, etc. BODY IS METALLIC PHANTOM GREY TOP METALLIC TITANIUM SILVER Complete underbody has been sealed with rust preventative undercoating. Rubber seals have been replaced a with new. New radial tires have less than 50 miles on them. Upholstery includes new foam and features new pleated and perforated black leather-like vinyl tops with accenting grey piping and solid sides. Dashboard is excellent with no cracks and beautiful sheen. Engine is fresh 1800 cc pancake Porsche Boxer Motor. Resealed and tested. Transmission is a simple 4 speed "H" pattern manual. Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...
