1985 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia, Wolfsburg Edition on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
1985 Volkswagen Vanagon Westphalia Weekender, Wolfsburg Edition. THIS IS A PROJECT VEHICLE, IT DOES NOT RUN. 62,477 original A box miles (yes, you read the
mileage correctly), with clean title in my name. 1.9 liter, 4 speed, PS, PB, A/C, dual
batteries, mini-refrigerator. I’m the
second owner, having purchased it from the original owner’s family in 2010. It has not run for at least six or seven years,
and will obviously need some work to get going.
At some point pack rats made their way into the engine compartment (but
not the interior) and chewed thru a lot of the wiring. The crankshaft does turn over by hand. One area of thru rust (see photo) and some
scale on the underside, but other than that pretty clean. No accidents, but some minor dings and
dents. Original paint shines quite
nicely, the interior is in very good condition with no cracks in dash, and all
the glass is good. Pop top canvas needs
to be replaced. Never smoked in. I started on a restoration but have too many other projects
at the moment, including an old Honda CB that’s caught my eye. Comes with a complete set of new fuel lines
(fuel tank reseal kit A, fuel expansion tank/gas tank grommets, and fuel line
replacement kit with firewall adaptor - $230) from Van Cafe, factory repair manual, owner’s manual, two spare rear
coil springs and new cover. I pulled the
fuel tank and had it cleaned out, resealed and painted; I began removing the
radiator to have it flushed out, but never got around to it. It certainly needs some work, but it’s all stock and has very low miles. For a few grand
and some time it could be really nice. I’ll be listing this locally so I reserve the
right to close the auction at any time.
My feedback is 100% positive over 13 years and I’d like to keep it that
way; as such, I would really prefer to sell to someone who can come and look at
it in person. See photobucket link below for more pictures; I'll be adding as I have time. If you want pictures of something specific
let me know. http://s1346.photobucket.com/user/gd44elle/library/Vanagon?sort=3&page=1 |

Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling
Sat, 02 Mar 2013Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.
Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE is a sleek take on brand's future CUV
Tue, Jan 13 2015Volkswagen continues its long tease leading up to an eventual US-built, seven-passenger, three-row crossover with the Cross Coupe GTE at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. While it's still affixed with the tinsel of a concept car, there are a lot of details that will arrive on VW's eventual production crossover. The wheelbase of the GTE is said to be identical to the production model, although this five-passenger CUV is actually about a foot shorter overall, Volkswagen's chief of design, Klaus Bischoff, told Autoblog. The overall shape of the GTE's greenhouse, meanwhile, will also be very similar to the car that'll come to market, although more progressive from the C-pillar forward (that's right kids, that sexy sloping rear end isn't for production). Despite the aggressive rake, a peek in the GTE's trunk revealed room for the CUV's third row. Beyond hinting at a new addition to the company's lineup, the GTE also gives us a look at future Volkswagen design, including the use of four-element LED running lamps. Body lines will be as sharp as is feasible. Look for the production version of Volkswagen's seven-passenger SUV at the end of next year. Until then, check out the two-row concept, courtesy of our live images from the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Ten of the greatest Super Bowl car commercials of all time
Thu, Jan 28 2016With an average of over 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl always has advertisers bringing out the big guns. And for those among us who don't know the difference between a safety and a touchback, those commercials can be one of the most compelling aspects of the annual ritual. Car companies, in particular, have a long history of making the most of the huge Super Bowl audience by debuting some of the most memorable advertisements that have ever aired on television. So, in preparation for the new batch we'll be seeing this coming Sunday, here's a collection of our favorites from the past. 10. Audi – The Godfather When Audi created this homage to the quintessential gangster movie to promote its newest sports car, the company managed to make a commercial that was simultaneously funny, a little bit disturbing, and most importantly memorable. 9. Maserati – Strike This one might start out slow, but it delivers not only with the wicked sound of the third-generation Ghibli's engine, but with an interesting message about hubris in the auto industry as well. 8. Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo – Dream Directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien), this dystopian spot has centers around a narrator who explains that in his dream the bad guys are unable to catch him despite their best efforts by way of street bikes, race cars, and supersonic jets. While the twin-turbocharged 300ZX car was certainly a performance powerhouse to be reckoned with in its day, the concept and execution of this one does come off a little bit campy now – but in a good way. Then again, it is a dream, after all. 7. General Motors – Robot This one is unique in that it's genuinely depressing on a profound level. Who would've thought that the simulated suicide of a lovable, anthropomorphic car-building robot who has fallen on hard times could be such a downer? 6. Nissan – With Dad Although the debut season of its new LMP1 racer didn't exactly turn out how the team hoped it would, there's no denying that Nissan's depiction of a strained father-and-son relationship that eventually leads to redemption (and the introduction of the 2016 Maxima) tugs at the heartstrings. 5. Volkswagen – Big Day A surprisingly poignant advert, this one might be low on dialogue but it certainly gets its message across. And just as the dramatic soundtrack begins to lull the viewer into a sense of security, our expectations are upended. 4.
