 Great aircooled Vanagon Westfalia

These great cars are getting harder and harder to find. Here's your chance to become a member of an exclusive community!

Recently on a 10472miles roadtrip all across the states this great little camper has seen almost any corner and every hill of the country!

If it has always been your dream to take a roadtrip to all the national parks all over the country, this is the perfect mini RV for you. Fit in any parking spot and have your house with you, nice little fridge and sink and plenty of cabinets to store all your camping needs! And the best you can even sleep four adults in two seperate beds!

But I'm sure if you're reading this you already know all about the westys ;) so lets talk about this one!

The goods:

-low mileage only 106.000miles
-spent her life in the sunshine State Florida so almost NO RUST
-clear Title
-turn key and go wherever you want
-very clean engine
-new Douglas tires + alignement front and back
-new fuel pressure regulator
-tricky stuff like the computer and airflowmeter are tested with good ones and work

-comes with alot of useful equipment like extension cords, waterhose, tools, fishing rod and more
-offer includes an impeccable La-Z-Boy recliner chair super comfortable
-more that i count to general regular service
-available for testdrive and inspection

The bads:

-large temperature changes over the day can cause tank to draw a vacuum which ocasionaly requires you to open the gascap before the first start of the day
-no aircooled VW should be driven faster then 65mph!
-I replaced the original 30 years old mattress for the top bed with a new memory foam mattress  (kept the westy covers)
-the leg for the front table is missing
-the left burner of the stove is not working, maybe easy maybe not, I only needed one so I never found out ;)
-the fridge is nice to have but the don't get really cold like all westys
-sliding window lock on the right side doesn't lock
-nickel-sized rusthole under windshield on the right side
-pop-top canvas has a rip, which is taped up
-as I wrote in the goods she is a Florida car, but the turnside is that the humidity loosened parts of the paper roofceiling, I used to have a flag pinned on the roof to cover it up, but If you're more ambitious this should be one of those DIY things ;)
-crack in the front bumper plastic edge
-like all old cars they require alot of attention and care, but they are unique little cars and well wort your while!

I'm not making a living selling Vanagons, so this one here will be alot cheaper then any of the professional dealer ones like from GoWesty, but I took good care of her for the short time I had the pleasure to own a real Westy and am proud to have toured the states in a real classic, but all good things must come to an end, so this is your opportunity to buy a roadtrip-tested Westy and do that trip of a lifetime you always wanted, or simply use her for the weekend camping trip, no matter your plans there's no better car for them then the great Vanagon Westfalia!
Please feel free to contact me with all your questions and special picture requests, even a roadtrip-report ;)

Thanks for reading and happy bidding!

btw: on the rockerpanel picture the little colourful little things are magnets to prove that there is no body fill anywhere
and I hope you understand that I had to put a reserve price to my absolute minimum, but please feel free to bid, you might be eligible for a second chance offer if she doesn't sell ;)

Auction for first US VW e-Golf raises $41,400 for Global Green charity

Thu, Nov 6 2014

Would having Jay Leno on hand have changed the outcome? That's what executives at Volkswagen might be asking after the German automaker auctioned off the company's first electric car in the US for around $6,000 over MSRP. VW auctioned off the first Volkswagen e-Golf in the US to raise money for the environmental non-profit Global Green USA. Bruce Oberg, an EV enthusiast and previous VW owner, proudly cut a $41,400 check for the car, which has a 116 miles per gallon-equivalent rating and is said to be able to go about 80 miles on a single charge. At your local dealer (depending on where you live), the e-Golf starts at $35,445. Sales start later this month in 11 states: California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Oregon, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Washington, DC. The $6,000 premium for first-dib rights for the e-Golf is nice, but it doesn't compare to what BMW worked out this summer. In August, the first i8 plug-in hybrid in the US was auctioned off at California's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for $825,000 (to an unidentified buyer). That's about six times the car's sticker price, but this special edition came with Louis Vuitton luggage and was presented by noted car buff Leno. VW's press release below. VOLKSWAGEN E-GOLF RAISES MONEY TO BENEFIT GLOBAL GREEN USA AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CHARITY AUCTION Nov 4, 2014 Winning bidder claims first VW electric vehicle as the car begins to ship to select U.S. dealerships Herndon, VA (November 4, 2014) – Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced that the auction of the first 2015 all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf has raised $41,400, with proceeds benefitting the national environmental non-profit Global Green USA and its efforts to advance smart solutions to climate change. The winner of the auction, which ran from October 8–29 on CharityBuzz.com, became the first U.S. driver to own Volkswagen's all-new, fully-electric vehicle. "Volkswagen's commitment to e-mobility and sustainability runs deep. We could not be more proud that the e-Golf has helped raise money to benefit the efforts of Global Green USA, an organization that shares in our dedication to the environment," said Michael Horn, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.

Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global

Tue, Aug 27 2019

Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.

Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]

Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...
