Hello and thank you for checking out our VW Westfalia!  (hope you don't get seasick watching the video, my wife promises to not drink wine before shooting in the future.) *smile

Up for bid is a 1981 Volkswagen Camper Westfalia.
This WESTY is ready to find your new favorite camp spots!
This is a very solid and strong running camper that is ready to go out and get CAMPING!

Van has an automatic transmission and a very strong running, clean engine with low original miles.
The upholstery is in really good shape, but the front seat has been used and looks best with a cover. The overall interior is really clean and nice.
Van has the entire set of curtains in great condition.  It also has both of the tables, it is really nice to turn the passenger seat around for more room and easy dining.
This unique van sleeps four with a full size bed up top and the bottom seat folds down to make another full size bed down below.
The canvas is heavy duty and is in really good condition.  It has been restitched by the front window and there are a couple of blemishes, but nothing to point out as far as it's functionality.
This Westy is a wonderful camping machine that is fully equipt with a water reservoir and sink, a built in stove top, a nice little refrigerator with racks and a little freezer rack.
(it even has the cute little original factory ice tray)  This camper has all that you need for dry camping or rv parks!
Just flip a little switch and it lights up to tell you how much water it has on board and how much battery power you have.
We are including the handy, locking Yakima Racks and key.

All of the seals are in place and are in good condition.
The air cooled 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine runs very strong and has always had regular maintenance.  It is CLEAN!
All four tires are in great shape and the van goes right down the road nice and straight.
This camper has been well loved, it is not perfect, however, you would be hard pressed to find better running machine!

Please review all of the photographs and ask any questions you may have before the end of the auction.
I will answer your questions openly and honestly with as much detail as possible.
One lucky bidder will get a very dependable, nice camper with a clean, clear title in hand!

Van is being sold "as is" with no warranty expressed or implied.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!

If you have no buyer feedback or little to no transactions, please contact me prior to the end of auction to arrange specific purchase process.
I reserve the right to end the auction early, it is for sale locally as well.

VW Golf R pre-order sells out in less than 11 hours

Fri, Jan 9 2015

Volkswagen fans had to be pretty quick if they wanted to ensure their pre-order for one of the first 500 units of the 2015 Golf R to enter the US. The German brand opened the books online at at 12:01 AM EST, and according to company spokesperson Leigh Anne Sessions speaking to Autoblog, by around 10:30 AM EST all of them were snapped up. VW's pre-order page currently shows these vehicles as no longer available, and the company confirms the news on Twitter, as well. There's still a chance to get an early Golf R by signing up for the waiting list and hoping one of the 500 orders falls through. VW Customer Care will contact people if there's an opening. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This entire allotment of the Golf R comes in Lapiz Blue Metallic paint with VW's adaptive damper system, navigation, a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and more. To further sweeten the pot, the company is also giving these folks a watch, key chain and certificate with their vehicle's VIN. The 500 models were priced at $39,090, plus $820 destination and delivery, but only $500 was required to reserve one online. The amount was refundable if a person backed out.

Felicity Ace sinks with thousands of VWs, Porsches, Lamborghinis

Tue, Mar 1 2022

The stricken ship Felicity Ace sank overnight after a week of salvage efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful. The ship, which was carrying up to 4,000 VW Group cars, went to the bottom unexpectedly while a salvage team was attempting to tow it to shore, Bloomberg reports.  "Initial reports from the local salvage team state that the vessel had sunk at around 9AM local time having suffered a list to starboard," Mitsui O.S.K. Lines transportation company (MOL), which owns the Felicity Ace, said in a statement released early Tuesday.    "The last vessel position was around 220nm off the Azores," MOL said. "The salvage crafts will remain around the area to monitor the situation. Further information will be provided as it becomes available." The ship sank after being battered by waves and listing 45 degrees to starboard, the ship’s operator said. “The weather was pretty rough out there,” Pat Adamson, a spokesperson for MOL Ship Management (Singapore), a unit of Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd., said by phone. “And then she sank, which was a surprise.” VW, Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini-branded models were aboard the ship, which was headed to Rhode Island from GermanyÂ’s Emden port when the fire broke out on Feb. 16.  Rough seas and ongoing fires fueled by the lithium-ion batteries of EVs onboard delayed the ship's salvage and recovery operations for the better part of a week. While the likelihood of salvaging the smoke and potentially fire- and water-damaged vehicles from Felicity Ace's hold was slim to none, some had held out hope that their special-ordered vehicles might survive the mishap.  The Panama-flagged Felicity Ace was safely evacuated of its 22 crew members by the Portuguese navy after a fire started in its hold more than a week ago. The ship can carry up to 4,000 cars. European carmakers declined to discuss how many vehicles and what models were on board, but it appears to have been transporting approximately 2,500 cars, including roughly 1,100 Porsches and an undetermined number of Volkswagens.  The cars aboard were on order. Porsche customers in the United States were being contacted by their dealers, the company said. “We are already working to replace every car affected by this incident and the first new cars will be built soon,” Angus Fitton, vice president of PR at Porsche Cars North America, Inc., told The Associated Press in an email. The ship sank in water nearly 10,000 feet deep, the Portuguese Navy said.

Yes, a family of 5 can live in a 1981 VW Westfalia van

Fri, Feb 14 2014

Automakers and marketers trying to reach environmentally conscious consumers who desire the simple life basically have two strategies: promote electric vehicles that can be charged through green energy or sell a 30-year-old Volkswagen van on Craigslist. Nicolas Boullosa and Kirsten Dirksen opted for Plan B and turned a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper into a "micro-living" experiment. The co-founders of the simple living website faircompanies packed up their van and three young children for a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. They even turned the adventure into a documentary called Summer of (Family) Love, which you can view below. It's two hours long, so maybe add this to your weekend viewing list. They limited themselves to one backpack per person into a camper that they purchased off Craigslist and named "Westy." They stuck to their original intention of cooking all their own meals off a propane stove, creating a new little home every night in a different location, mostly spaces outside RV parks. They met up with other enthusiasts of the "tiny house" community who live like nomads. They were able to interview a few of then and, "With each stop we picked up some new piece of wisdom about life's essentials," Dirksen wrote in the faircompanies blog.
