1978 Volkswagen ASI Riviera Campmobile

They are only original once!

***WILL SHIP WORLD WIDE***

This Bus started its life in Tacoma, Washington and was driven by the new owner to its home in Eagle River, Alaska.
I am unsure how long it lived in Alaska but it did come to Texas in the 90's. The odometer reads 56XXX but I would assume it has rolled over.

The VW has had only one repaint quite a few years ago.
While it still looks good it will be ready for another to be brought back to factory new.

I have installed a new front tire cover, it also has 4 Kumho tires that are in excellent condition.

No real body damage, just a few nicks and dings. Great looking Bus!

All Lenses are Factory Hella except the two rear side marker.

All glass in good condition and in working order. It does need a windshield, more on that later.

2.0 Liter with dual Weber Carbs. All heating components are present and I have replaced
engine to body seal for proper cooling.

I also installed a new battery and starter within the last month.

The carpet is in great condition and all the original cabinets and appliances are present as are
all the foldout tables.

The Bus also has all of its original curtains.

Sink has two faucets, one needs an electric pump the other is in working condition that hooks to water hook ups.

The original stove and fridge are included but I have not tested them.

The rear bed still retains the original fabric. There are a couple of spots that need attention but I would prefer worn original over perfect un-original.

Dome lights are in working order!

The canvas top is in great condition (could use a little cleaning).
The fiberglass top is in great condition as well.

Lets talk about windshields and rust. I have not replaced the windshield because it would be a good time to repair the rust around the windshield. It has not rusted through anywhere. What I would offer is, I will replace the windshield before it is picked up if the winning bidder is going to wait to have the bus painted. But if you would like to have it replaced after you have the bus painted I will deduct $225.00 off of the winning bid to cover the cost of a new windshield. Your choice.

Rust, they all seem to have it somewhere.  The worst rust on the bus is on the roof (see pic below). I know it is ugly but you can not see it if the top is down and if you are going to have it painted this is an easy fix. Way better than floor problems. Like I said earlier the floors are in excellent condition!

Door panels are in good condition.

Seats are in great condition!

The dash has no cracks!

The floor mat is in great condition.

All seats have seat belts including the rear seats.

Headliner is in excellent condition!

The bed up top is in excellent condition!  Ready to go camping!

Folders of receipts and hand written notes! Including the original owners manual, dealer pouch, warranty & maintenance manual with owner ID plate. (pic below) Cool stuff!

Awesome bus ready to go camping. Runs and drives good and is ready for a new owner.

Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."

Lamborghini could be sold or spun off from the Volkswagen Group

Sat, Oct 12 2019

Volkswagen is reportedly considering a sale or stock listing for its high-end Lamborghini brand. The German automaker is looking to fold the Italian supercar brand into a separate legal entity, reports Bloomberg, which cites "people familiar with the matter" who don't want to be identified "because the deliberations are confidential and no decisions have been made." Any of this sound familiar? The goal of spinning off Lamborghini would be to stockpile more cash and other resources for VW's massive planned push into electric vehicles. Back in March, reports circulated that Volkswagen's "Vision 2030" corporate plan might include plans to focus on the brand's core brands — VW, Audi and Porsche. That means the futures of fringe players like Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, motorcycle brand Ducati and design firm Italdesign (and note this isn't a comprehensive list of brand's under the expansive VW Group umbrella) are up in the air. VW, according to the report, is targeting a market value of $220 billion, which is a big jump from the brand's current $89 billion valuation. Bloomberg pegged Lamborghini's valuation at around $11 billion back in August, buoyed by sales and profits generated by the introduction of the Urus sport utility vehicle. On the flip side, Lamborghini is currently grappling with how best to update its supercar lineup in the face of ever-increasing emissions regulations.

Tesla tires turning on Stretchla Vanagon EV conversion project

Tue, Jan 7 2014

It is one thing to say you are going to Frankenstein a Tesla Model S with a pair of Siamese-twinned Volkswagen Vanagons and quite another to actually start taking your newly-acquired, smashed-up electric sedan apart in an effort to bring it back to life. Otmar Ebenhoech is doing just that, and having no small successes along the way. The Stretchla project, as it is being called, has officially started and our protagonist has put together another bit of video to document his progress and let us know about some of the different challenges he's encountered and conquered. While our original post about this endeavor featured video of the stretched Vanagon's drivetrain removal, this latest installment focuses on the Model S. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition and has been tackling some of the basic problems one might expect to encounter: lots of error messages and an electrically disconnected battery pack. Without the aid of a manual or technical diagrams, he's removed the battery pack and discovered why it wasn't sending power to the car. Scroll below to watch the ten-minute presentation and celebrate some initial victories. You can also check out the official Stretchla blog for more photos and updates, including the most recent one that discusses how he talked himself into paying (*spoiler alert) $42,000 for a wrecked, non-functional electric car, along with more recent struggles with the steering rack. Hit us up in the comments to let us know what kind of trouble you would get into with a Model S drivetrain of your own. This content is hosted by a third party.
