NEVADA CLASSIC CAR DEALER # 40339, VW VIN # 2242133151
I bought this very clean and solid, and great running 1974 VW bus from a very cool VW -loving couple here in Las Vegas.. it was originally a So. Calif. bus and still has only a little more than 55,000 original miles on it , according to them, but I want to say True Mileage Unknown just in case. They had the motor and tranny rebuilt just recently and the 1800 pancake motor now sports Dual Solex carbs, so it really gets up and gets going, once you get going ! The bus runs great, always starts right up first time and is virtually almost rust-free ... The body looks to have the original 40 year old German paint that is a little dull, but I love the patina just the way it is... but you can fix it up Surfer or Hippie style or turn it into a camper .. or many businesses wrap these cool bay window vans with graphics to get attention for your brand or company ! All I know I love this van and will drive it until a lucky buyer makes me the right offer. We have a car museum here also, so come by and take a look ! I have also ordered a new Retro-AM/FM radio for it with MP3 jack... and also new foam and original style black fabric for the front seats and these will be included with the sale... here is some information on the van I recieved from the last owner.. but before that: WATCH THE VIDEO OF THIS COOL '74 VW Bus Here: I told you about the new Dual Solex Carbs ... but also: Electronic Ignition added, Valves Adjusted, New Distributor, Spark Plug Wires and Plugs, New Fuel lines & Filters, New Brakes, New Tires from Discount Tire with Warranty, New Axles, Rebuilt Tranny shifts great, New Motor Seals (still leaks just a little oil -- hey is a VW bus ! lol) , Engine Tuned, Kill Switch, New plastic door panels by Wagenworks, all lights and turn signals work and so does parking brake. Nice black fabric on back seat with just a couple little tears, but I like the Mexican blanket look also.. Please note, I am a boutique classic car dealer in Nevada, so any Nevada residents who purchase this car to register in Nevada will need to pay a 8.1 % Nevada sales tax and a $99 documentation fee... but I have taken this into consideration in the great-value pricing of this car. Come to Vegas to party and drive home an incredible vehicle that is quite a lot of class, fun and quality for the money ! MotorWeek looks back at the 1986.5 VW Scirocco 16V
Wed, Jan 21 2015It's back to the past with MotorWeek for a video dive into the 1986.5 Volkswagen Scirocco 16V, the coupe that carried the pennant for VW's performance aspirations for 15 years, from 1974 to 1989. This one, the last generation, got the hottest of all by adding a head with four valves per cylinder. The 1.8-liter DOHC engine cranked out "an amazing" 123 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque, and made this model the fastest VW to ever be sold in America; it went from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds, faster than a Porsche 944. To compare vintage apples to modern ones, the New Scirocco with a 123-hp 1.4-liter TSI engine and a manual transmission takes 9.3 seconds. We like MotorWeek's Retro Review series not only for the cars, but for how they also remind us of what we used to find important in cars. The Scirocco here gets upvoted for its throttle response and handling, downvoted for an oddly placed oil pressure gauge and lack of battery voltage meter. We can't remember the last time a voltage meter was mentioned in a review, either its presence or lack. Check out the video above for what the definition of "US hot hatch" used to be.
Volkswagen posts quarterly profit despite drop in sales
Thu, Oct 29 2020Volkswagen returned to profit in the third quarter as surging Chinese demand for luxury cars helped offset a 1.1% drop in vehicle deliveries due to the pandemic, sending its shares as much as 3% higher on Thursday. The German automaker's return to the black comes amid spiking coronavirus cases in Europe that led governments in France and Germany to order their countries back into strict national lockdowns on Wednesday. "The coronavirus remains a central problem," Volkswagen Chief Financial Officer Frank Witter said in a conference call with reporters. "This situation now is anything but relaxed." But Witter said the group expected the economic recovery to continue and did "not anticipate any nationwide lockdowns in larger markets." Witter said the takeover of U.S. truck maker Navistar International by Volkswagen's trucking unit Traton was an important acquisition, but the "current economic climate will not make this easy." Volkswagen reiterated it expects to post a profit for the full year, saying its business "recovered noticeably" in the third quarter as sales in China of premium vehicles, including Audi and Porsche sports cars, rose 3%. The quarterly performance was also aided by a series of cost-cutting measures launched earlier this year. Volkswagen said its net liquidity rose to 24.8 billion euros from 18.7 billion at the end of the second quarter. Excluding one-time items, third-quarter operating profit was 3.2 billion euros ($3.8 billion), down from 4.8 billion euros a year earlier, but up from a second quarter loss of 1.7 billion. In a note to clients, Jefferies analyst Philippe Houchois described the results as a "solid performance with strong cash, but relatively muted in the context of the (auto) sector recovery." Last week, German rival Daimler reported a record 24% jump in Chinese demand for its Mercedes-Benz cars, boosting its margins in the third quarter. Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Peugeot manufacturer PSA Group both also posted solid results this week. Witter said Volkswagen could not say for sure whether it would meet EU CO2 emissions targets this year, adding "it will be a tough race." At 1030 GMT, Volkswagen shares were up 2.9% at 129.20 euros. Top Gear drag races VW Golf R against McLaren 675LT and Porsche 911
Thu, Apr 7 2016Top Gear's latest quarter-mile drag race in the collects three very different performance vehicles: the 296-horsepower Volkswagen Golf R, 424-hp Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, and 666-hp McLaren 675LT. While each of these cars sit near the top of their segment, they each come from totally different rungs of the sports car price ladder. Spoiler alert, the Golf R doesn't win. But the final results illustrate the diminishing returns of price and performance. For example, the McLaren is only about a second quicker than the Porsche to 60 miles per hour, but the 675LT costs over 2.5 times more that the GTS. Related Video:
