1973 VW Westfalia Campmobile

You are looking at my 1973 VW Bus Camper, air cooled.  We just had a baby so the wife is making me sell it!  We bought this bus in 2011 and have done quite a few things to it.  The engine was completely rebuilt in July of 2011 by a Boise mechanic named Mike Alan, some know him as the best VW mechanic west of the Mississippi.  Since the rebuild we have probably only put 3,000 miles on it so it is still running fantastic.  We also went through and re upholstered the seats as well as put some new curtains in.  The pop top is also only about 2 years old.  This bus is in pretty good condition but it is not completely restored and still has some rough edges.  I want to be completely honest here because I am selling it as is so here is a list of the good and bad about it.

Good
- Rebuilt engine in 2011, about $3200 in receipts for that.
- 2 year old pop top, great condition.
- Newly upholstered seats.
- New curtains.
- Sink works, it also has a fridge.
- Back seat folds down into a bed.
- Comes with the cot that goes in the pop top but it is not upholstered.
- Comes with a cover.
- Mechanically fantastic.
- Exterior and interior lights work great.
- Very little rust on this vehicle.
- Speedometer, odometer, and thermometer all work.

Bad
- Crack in front windshield.
-  No seat belts in back bench seat (the back facing single seat has seat belts).
- Missing the horn.
- Windshield wiper fluid container not connected (comes with the bus).
- Knob to open glovebox is missing but can still be opened.
- Heat and A/C not currently functioning.

I will also include a box of bus trinkets if you want them.  This includes some paint, the side table that hooks onto the sink, and some other various spare parts.  This bus is 40 years old and I am not really sure how many owners it has had or where it has been.  But being a bus, you can bet on it having some great stories and some great times ahead of it.  Please let me know if you have any questions about it.

German judge 'inclined to dismiss' hedge fund lawsuit against Porsche

Fri, Feb 27 2015

Last year, around two dozen investors, including hedge funds, leveled a 1.4 billion euro ($1.95 billion at the time) lawsuit against Porsche in connection with the automaker's attempted takeover of Volkswagen in 2008. The Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the case. Around 19 of those plaintiffs are heading back to court to appeal the ruling and still hope to get 1.2 billion euros ($1.4 billion). However, according to one German judge, the chances for success aren't any better this time around. "On balance it's our view that we consider the lawsuit, or the appeal, to be unpromising for several reasons," Gerhard Ruf, a judge in Stuttgart, said to Reuters. "We are inclined to dismiss the case." The court's ruling on the appeal will be announced on March 26. The investors' case hinges on Porsche's strategy surrounding the botched takeover. The sports car maker said that it wasn't trying to control VW, when in fact it was. These hedge funds had bet against Volkswagen stock, but the share price surged when Porsche's plan inevitably came to light. Investors have sued the sports car company multiple times since then in attempts to recoup billions of dollars. However, none of the lawsuits have been successful, whether attempted in the US or Germany. Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and and CFO Holger Haerter might still stand trial for the alleged stock manipulation, though. Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
