1973 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper on 2040-cars
Cambridge, Maryland, United States
This is my 1973 VW Westy. After selling my '72 VW Sportsmobile I found this lovely bus up for sale. I have used this as my daily and has been on some cross country adventures from east coast to the west, up until its final run. One the way back from a visit to Texas as we were coming home we lost just about all the compression. We took it to our mechanic immediately, and have always taken it to him if there was ever a problem. All work tickets have been kept while the bus was in our hands. After he had gone through and tried everything he came to the conclusion of the engine and carb need a rebuild or need to be replace owners choice.
After taken into thought of how much I travel and need more reliable/stronger engine for those long drive we decided to part with the bus and move into a 90s VW Camper. So as much as I love looking out as seeing the beautiful bus in the backyard we need to let it go. I have kept up on all the mechanics up until its last adventure and have all work tickets available for you. There is rust in some spots as is most old cars from the east coast. The history of this bus was it was originally bought in Colorado and eneded up sometime in Pennsylvania when the previous owner found it. I came upon the bus on a back road of Delaware and its been with me ever since. The interior is very nice that’s what really caught my attention as some of these buses inside are pretty bare when you find them or in really rough shape. Other than the last engine issue i never had any serious problems with the bus while on any drive. The only thing i have added to the westy has been stickers, and wrapped most of the interior with hemp due to my company name Hemp Wrapped Bus. if you have any questions please feel free to contact me by email. *BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICK-UP *ALL DEPOSIT'S ARE NON-REFUNDABLE *CAR IS SOLD AS IS WERE IS |

Last VW bus ever made arrives at final destination
Fri, 31 Jan 2014A Brazilian politician tried to save it, unsuccessfully, so the final Last Edition Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi was produced on December 20, 2013 and now resides in a vintage museum at Volkswagen's Commercial Vehicles HQ in Hanover, Germany.
The Volkswagen Microbus was built for 56 years, starting in September 1957. Brazil was the last country still assembling it, but new safety regulations in the country requiring airbags and ABS on all cars spelled the end. When that politician introduced a bill that would pardon only the 'Bus from a death sentence, it couldn't garner the required number of votes for passage. The South American country takes the Kombi production title, though, with 1.5 million of the 3.5 million total made in the home of Copacabana beach and the girl from Ipanema.
The VW Bus is dead. Now perhaps we can turn our attentions to the still-not-totally-settled matter of the Bulli...
Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013
Wed, 02 Jan 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
