FOR SALE..... A 1972 vw Bus. Type 2. I purchased this vehicle in the summer of 2006. It was a daily driver. Until the rains came. Then I found numerous leaks around the windows. Started investigating and removed the window seals and glass. I found rust holes along the base of the window frames. The bus was not my primary vehicle, so I parked it in the garage and figured I would get to it when I could. I figured I would redo the interior while I was at it.....so i removed everything......paneling, head liner, seats etc. Then a couple years went by.....And it still sat there. I would occasionally start it up and let it run. But a couple more years went by and found the battery to be dead and when it was the original tank of gas since I parked it, I decided not to mess with it. So the short of it......It's been a couple of years since it has been fired up. When I drove it, everything was smooth. Shifted through all gears smoothly and ran strong. The body is straight and the paint is original and decent. There is areas along the body where i sprayed primer paint to protect the body, molding mounts, emblem mounts and exposed metal. The mileage says 52,+++ , but I couldn't tell you really what that represents. The vehicle is what it is. Could be a great easy restore project or a simple road ready vehicle with a little T.L.C.

Sun, Dec 15 2019What could better demonstrate our diametric vehicular future than sound clips of the Volkswagen ID 3 and the Koenigsegg Jesko? Battery-electric vehicles don't make enough noise on their own, so VW partnered with composer Leslie Mandoki for the legally-mandated Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) that warns pedestrians and cyclists of the EV's presence. Mandoki — a German-Hungarian who once played drums in a Euro disco band called Dschinghis Khan — was asked to come up with a sound for the ID 3 that VW said "defines its identity," "radiates safety and the promise of effortless mobility," and that "must also impress with its unique character." The definition of the ID 3's single-motor, 201-horsepower character is this: Occupants and people around the hatch can hear the sound as the car accelerates to 18.6 mph, and when reversing. At higher speeds, the sound of wind resistance and tire noise takes over. As our library of AVAS tones grows, it's clear that EVs will provide a soundscape as varied as that of internal combustion engines. Toyota reclaims global sales crown, GM and VW not far behind

The Japanese automaker turned out 9.75 million vehicles last year, putting it just ahead of General Motors, with 9.29 million vehicles. Volkswagen, meanwhile, filled out the podium by building 9.1 million units in 2012.
Still, Toyota numbers fell just below projections the automaker made earlier in the year, due largely to a fierce territorial dispute between Japan and China that has seen mainland buyers shun Japanese goods. But the news marks a substantial comeback for Toyota. The company fell to third place in the global production race in 2011 after tragic earthquake and tsunami caused several plant closures.
In Japan, Toyota enjoyed a sales increase of 35 percent over the previous year, while the company's worldwide sales jumped by 23 percent thanks in part to new additions to the Prius line. The automaker is forecasting yet another increase for 2013, with the company projecting to reach 9.91 million units this year. Neither Volkswagen nor GM have released their own projections just yet.
Andretti Autosport partners with Volkswagen for Global Rallycross season
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Michael Andretti and Volkswagen have both been involved in Global Rallycross for a couple of years, but not together. Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the final round of the 2012 GRC series in Las Vegas, and there were rumors then that Andretti was going to get in. Around the same time there were news reports that Volkswagen was preparing a 600-hp Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class; the photo above is racer Anton Marklund in his privateer Marklund Motorsports Polo at the 2013 X-Games round in Los Angeles.
Now it's official: Andretti Autosport will campaign the 2014 GRC season with VWs. That's all that's been said for now, Andretti being busy at the moment launching four entries for IndyCar, two for Indy Lights and two for Pro Mazda. We have a feeling we'll be seeing the MkVII Golf involved, but the cars and the driver lineup will be presented at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.
