1971 Volkswagen 'WALK-THRU' Bus....I'm listing this vehicle for a friend. She's an older lady that bought it about 15 years ago, drove it for about a year and parked it in a covered carport at her home. From what I can see this is an all original bus, except the radio. Overall condition of the body is very good (never been cut). No major dents (and very few small ones, if any at all), sliding door is in good working condition, deck lid and rear hatch open and close with no problems, both driver and passenger doors open and close with no problems, windows roll up & down, side windows open & close, all glass in good, original condition. Tires are good, stock steel rims with hubcaps...this van has the fold-up bed, fold-up table. The interior is all original, all vinyl in good condition (rear seat vinyl is good, it's just covered with blanket - sorry). Original wood panel headliner fair condition...dashboard is good, has a radio (not stock). As far as I know all electrical works. Good battery...brakes are good, e-brake good transmission is good...As you are aware, if your a Volkswagen person, almost every Volkswagen has some rust issues....some are very rusty, and some have very little rust. I looked this bus over (body and frame) floors are very solid, front end (nose) is good (might have emblem) and with just minor surface rust...this one is very solid, with very little rust! Now about the motor...it's a 1600 duel port, standard engine...it does run, however it hesitates. She took it to the local Bugformance (in San Jose) and they noted on her paperwork that the distributor vacuum pod not correct ...recommend fresh air hoses. Not sure of exact mileage, odometer reads: 58048.0 She has the receipts for recent work done. This bus is currently registered and insured, pink slip is clear. Please review all pictures....if you have any questions, or would like a picture of a particular area please email me. My name is Bruce and you are welcome to call my cell number 408 317 8076. If your local and would like to see the bus, please call for an appointment. And to be clear, this bus is being sold AS-IS and WHERE-IS. Overseas buyers welcome, east coast buyers welcome. Once you have made contact with a shipper I will be available to meet and assist your shipper. Bottom line: this is a nice original bus - good luck bidding!

Autoblog Podcast #327:
Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal
Wed, 13 Feb 2013The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.
