1970 Volkswagen Camp Mobile Bus Vanagon Westfalia Camper Made In Germany
1970 Volkswagen Bus,Westfalia Weekender Camper Van aka Camp mobile. One of the most sought after VW's. All original one owner. The owner was a UT professor that had ordered it new from the factory and then picked it up overseas. He then road tripped to many country's there for about a year and finally had it shipped over to America. It runs well and has clear Texas title and current inspection sticker. The inside is like a mini Rv. It has the roll out child size cot that snaps in over the front seat. It has a slightly larger cot which folds out in the roof just under the pop-top camper. The back seat folds out and makes into an adult size bed, which can sleep two adults. The back bench seat and middle seat opens up for storage and it has a small coat closet and a pantry. It also has a fold up table in the back along with sink and mini fridge. The owner had the motor rebuilt once with all original/German parts, so it runs great. We recently put brand-new tires on it, had a tuneup and some brake work done. This is a very nice example of all original untouched bus that's spent its life in Texas. No major rust or major problems. Due to its age and normal wear it could use some tlc on a few items, ie, the canvas on the pop top, the cloth orig. window binds are brittle, would check all the drive line bushings, weatherstripping getting a bit dry and maybe a fresh coat of paint. Please contact me before biding. Also included are some extra small parts and books. This would be a perfect bus to restore or enjoy it as it is. VW confirms new TDI for second half of 2014 in Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Diesel lovers rejoice. Volkswagen is bringing the latest iteration of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - dubbed the EA288 - to the 2015 model year Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle (2013 model pictured above) and Beetle Convertible, and the cars will be on sale in the second half of 2014.
While it shares its moniker with the old diesel, the new engine produces 150 horsepower, a 10-hp boost, and 236 pound-feet of torque. VW promises improved fuel economy as well, but it hasn't announced specifically what amount yet. The company claims that despite the same displacement, only the bore spacing is shared with the previous version. The mill includes new features like exhaust gas recirculation, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and low-friction camshaft bearings.
VW Group of America has had great success with diesels in the US recently. Vee-Dub and Audi sold 105,899 diesel-equipped models in 2013. It was the first time the group ever sold over 100,000 diesels in a year, and they accounted for 24 percent of sales. Scroll down to read the full press release about the announcement.
Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018
Thu, 04 Apr 2013Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.
