selling my 1968 Volkswagen bus type 28
kombie. Seats 7, walk-thru. Everything
works save for a few lamps that are
burned out.
the interior paneling has been stripped to
expose the Depth of any previous
damage. a few small dings are all that are
evident. there is no signs of rest under or
around any of the windows. The only rust
holes that are found are a few under the
drivers foot that amount to pin holes and
one maybe the size of a nickel. also under
the battery is a hole maybe the size of
three quarters and to end. both of these
issues are easily solved and are not
complicating the function of the vehicle.

outside of those two spots, there are no
other places that rust has gotten to the
vehicle. none of the windows have any
signs of rust around the seals. the wheel
wells have only the slightest bit of
superficial rust. the front and rear corners
have never been hit in any significant way
in any place. They are nearly pristine.
all of the seats are matching in there is a
little bit of sun damage to the rear back
seat.
I Drive this bus daily around my town
which is full of hills and the brakes are
solid. Needs a tie rod replaced, but its
tears just fine as well. the blinkers and
brake lights all work, but the blinker
handle sticks and you have to put it back
sometimes. the two dome lights check out
as well.
the 1500 CC single port engine fires right
up. Even though it is an undersized engine
it is fresh and it does the job just fine. I get
by on my crowded freeways doing 55
miles an hour...when i must.
mechanically this is a sound vehicle. As
the body goes, it is even better off. frankly,
that is where the real money is in this
vintage of vehicle. The body. Check
N.A.D.A. for the estimated value of this
vintage kombie.

thank you for your interest and I will be
happy to answer any questions for any
issues I have not addressed.

VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.

YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below.
