1967 Double Cab- Originally delivered to San Fransisco on December 1, 1966. This double cab spent its whole life in California and Southern Oregon. Factory Velvet Green. Believed to be 56,000 original miles. Runs and drives awesome. This VW has been well maintained and cared for by the previous owners. New professionally rebuilt 1600cc single port. Only one repaint, OG Saphire radio, OG seat upholstery.

Engine/Transmission- Professional rebuilt and correctly restored 1600cc single port motor by CB Performance. New alternator, all new fuel and vac lines, rebuilt carb, new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing. New header style exhaust with new heater boxes. New coil, all engine tins were sand blasted and repainted, factory oil bath are cleaner was sand blasted and repainted as well. The engine bay is spotless. Original transmission shifts perfectly.

Paint/Body- Dry southern Oregon West Coast VW. Very strait bus. Nose is in excellent condition. I just had both left and right front floor corners replaced. Solid nose, dog legs, front floors, rear corners, bed floor, bed doors are perfect, solid doors, under carriage is rust free. Minor rust in left and right lower rockers, inner rockers are solid, couple tiny spots on cargo floor (very minor) Cargo floor is solid. One older repaint over og paint. Interior paint is original and in excellent condition. Bed floor is solid with only surface rust. Both front and rear bumpers were completely disassembled, sand blasted and repainted. Over all this Double cab is in excellent condition.

Interior- The interior is a definite high light. Front and rear seats are in excellent condition and original, I replaced all interior panels including, roof panels, front door panels, kick panels, rear interior panels, cargo door panels. All interior panels were replaced. I used the original panels for templates and cut the panels out of 1/8 inch Baltic birch wood and painted the panels to the factor color and finish. The Baltic birch wood panels will out last the cheap fiber board these VW's came with. Original Saphire radio. Dash is in excellent condition and uncut. The interior in this double cab is in excellent condition and mostly original.

Other- New Optima Battery, horn, new brakes, dual circuit master cylinder, soft lines. new wheel cylinders and shoes. New empi wheels and new tires. All electrical work perfect. Gas gauge needs to be replaced. Heater works well.

Dry low mile southern Oregon West Coast VW. Mechanically this VW needs nothing. I decided to preserve this double cab and not do a full restoration as it was already in excellent condition . Many hours went into the "preservation restoration" of this VW. This double cab was cared for and well maintained by the previous owners. Runs and drives like new. This has been the most use full and one of the funnest VW's I have owned. Perfect daily driver. Feel free to call with questions (360)813-8332

I can have this bus shipped to your front door at whole sale cost

VW beams in Star Trek stars to promote e-Golf EV

Tue, Oct 7 2014

Volkswagen just set its e-mobility commercial phasers on stunning. The German automaker has cast Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame (i.e., actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) in a new advertisement for its growing stable of electric vehicles. Even though it's in German, we think you can get the idea. VW went Hollywood and cast the two veteran actors in a futuristic-themed 45-second ad, which sees Shatner cruise up in the e-Golf (with a toothy Trek-fan kid in tow) while Nimoy rocks the XL1 and the Trek theme blares in the background. Forget for a moment that the kid in the commercial wasn't even born when Shatner started pitching for Priceline, let alone the original Trek series and just enjoy the wholesome good humor of Shatner saying that the electric powertrain is just like the one in a spaceship. If you've got any familiarity with Spock, you should be able to understand his punch line, too. Of course, if you'd rather your German vehicle advertisements were set in the Star Wars universe, we recommend clicking here. VW will bring the e-Golf to the states in November at a price of $35,445, about $6,500 higher than the Nissan Leaf's starting pricetag. You can see the new ad and a number of related behind-the-scenes videos (in English) below. Our Quick Spin of the E-up! are available here. This content is hosted by a third party. Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover

Sat, Jan 18 2014

It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. Volkswagen officially grants access to UAW in Tennessee

Tue, Dec 9 2014

An audit at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN has revealed that at least 45 percent of the facility's workers support unionization, leading the German company to grant access rights to the United Auto Workers. This is a tremendous step in the UAW's long-running and at times contentious pursuit of the workforce at Chattanooga. With this latest move, "local leadership is ready to move forward with additional conversations with the company," the union said in a statement obtained by The Detroit News. "As a starting point, UAW Local 42 will take advantage of the company's offer to establish bi-weekly meetings with Volkswagen Human Resources and the Volkswagen Chattanooga Executive Committee." The News reports that UAW Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel, shown above speaking at the Chattanooga plant last summer, claimed these meetings "will remind Human Resources and the Chattanooga Executive Committee of the mutually agreed-upon commitments that were made by Volkswagen and the UAW last spring in Germany. Among those commitments: Volkswagen will recognize the UAW as the representative of our members. We believe Volkswagen made this commitment in good faith and we believe the company will honor this commitment." It's important to note that despite Casteel's remarks, this is not a collective-bargaining agreement, Harley Shaiken, a labor professor at University of California, Berkeley, told The News. "But it is a step in the direction of recognition, which ultimately could lead to collective bargaining. This is not the end point," Shaiken said. "We don't know what's next. We're in unchartered territory."
