An Original 1965 volkswagen bus deluxe model 21 window with stock sliding rag top,   This Bus was purchased in 2009 from the original owners family, This bus is an authentic 21 window ,  not a modified version,  it has the 21 /  23 window pan on the under carage,  no other bus has that pan  just the 21/23 window models, the pan was manafactured to strengthen and quiet the noise outside,  the 21 to 23 window models were a deluxe version primaraly for school or scenic type cruzing,  Volkswagen had no idea how valuable they would become 4 decades later,   Lou Dog has been a volkswagen enthusiast since his very first 1959 karman ghia european model back in 1974,  back in the 90s Lou had been into restoring the oval window bugs, but mostly the split oval windows prior to 1953,  the semifores were the coolest,  he thought,   after loosing one of his child hood friends to a hurendise accident in florida, heading to sebastian inlet,  one evening,  his buds hit a parked car on I 95 one died  another broke his spine which put him in a wheel chair for 22 years,  the other walked away,   with constant flash backs of that night,  that hindered all of our love for volkswagens,  Lou was determend to fight that by fixing up bug after bug then to buses ,  By looking on his web site Lou has restored around 15 to 20 buses,  mostly split windows ,  He knows more about restoring VWs then anyone,  and with his close friend Mike Smith, the two of them have restored some pearls,

This perticular bus was a hard to find,  specialy cause 70% of all 21/23 window buses have the solid bench front seat,  The walk through models were more of a specialty then stock,   After a 3 year search Lou found a 21 window walk through model,  by the original owners,  or the family,  It was first purchased in 1966 by the father for his son coming back from vietnam  He used it to go back and forth to college up in berkley,  the bus was passed down to another family member who decided to put big fat tires on it, which meant cutting out the wheel wells, trying to convert the insides to a camping style,  He modified the insides but cutting off the back of bolth front seats,  the passenger seat had the plate on it which held the M-code,  So this bus was going to be a hard restoration,  Due to the fact that the bus was a walk through model,  Lou took the task on cause it was all in all a real clean bus as far as the metal goes,  Lou his son and Mike smith spent two years alone on restoring the body to its original condition,   Lou did not have much of a choice considering the other 21 windows he found, which one of them was a 13 window converted,  the other ones had way to much rust and severe damage to the body,   1965 was a special year for the 21 windows,  it was the actual last year of the 21 windows,  it came out as a custom deluxe,

Lou replaced all the window frames,  the original ones had way to many pot holes of rust,  which was a very costly method but well worth it, considering this bus he planned on being the very last one, his keeper,  he replaced all four wheel wells which he personally purchased from wolfsburg west, two dog legs and two bottom rear wheel well pieces,  he also removed and replaced the floor plate under the barn doors,
The Volkswagen club in southern cal, and litterally dozens of VW people have stopped by Lous place to watch and ask questions with this perticular  bus,  and trust me the offers started quick,

Lou asked me to list the bus for him on ebay,  I am his son inlaw Ian,  Lou is a perfectionist,  his children and his surfboard shaping comes first as it is killing him to sell this bus, considering he planned on keeping this one,   He has completed Id say 98% of this bus  the only things it needs is a clock for the dash board,  40%of the metal trim that goes around the outside,  2 back seats,  window latches,  and back bumper,  also a lugage rack, if you wanted,  but all in all its ready to rock, as a daily driver, or to finish it as a show bus,   NOTE  The bus was already featured on a local album cover for a band in Encinitas, and several other forms of  magazines and advertisement purposes, its one of a kind,

But to top it off ,  Lou Dog has been shaping surfboards since the 70s,  and has over 185,000 surfboards in the water,  just shy of 35,000 handshapes,  shaping surfboards is a rare but much appriciated  art,  and these days the art of shaping is just  about gone.  Volkswagen buses also are getting harder and harder to find,   one sold on in Arizona at the Barrett / Jackson auction for $107,000  and it had 40% of body work in bondo,  This bus has only body puddy,  this bus is all metal and steal,  to get it the condition to sell in that auction is just a couple thousand away,  dont let it slip away, Lou has over $25,000 invested,  a buy it now price of $39,000  is un believeable,  a straight steel,  He asked me to price it to sell fast,  he will ship it any where,  longbeach harbour and DHX will ship vehicles any where in the world,

please dont bid on it if your not able to afford it,  There are too many serious investers that loose out cause some bids on it that cant follow through,   again $39,000 is the buy it now price,  but if at all possible and if funds arent an issue, show some gratuity,  Lou Dog went all out to make this bus very beautiful work of art,  More then likely a custom 9 foot tamahawk noserider will be hand shaped by Lou inside when it gets picked up

On Feb-10-13 at 16:38:08 PST, seller added the following information:

Greetings,  on request of several bidders,  wanted to see the bottom of the bus, so instead of sending everyone thesame photos, I listed 5 more photos, of the under side, that shows the pan that only the 21and 23 window buses came stock with,  seeing the photos you can tell that it is an original 21 window,  not at all fabricated,  Lou would not of bought it if was as fabricated 21 window,  the pan is in great condition, he sprayed under coating on the hole bottom to keep rust from starting,  plus the pan is not beat up or damaged,  good solid pan,  any further request let us know,  we just want the bus to go to a great home...  Ian Forbes

2015 Volkswagen e-Golf

Mon, Feb 9 2015

Until now, the only way you could get the words "electric" and "Golf" so close together was the put the word "cart" after them. Knowing that the e-Golf would be the next step in Volkswagen's tilt at electrification, the automaker designed the MkVII platform to fit a myriad of drivetrains, none of which would require purchasers to sacrifice the Golf-ness that makes the best-selling car in Europe, not to mention a huge hit here in the States. In the e-Golf that means power electronics underhood and an amoeba-shaped battery that fits in the floorpan, between the axles, where it won't ooze into the interior space. We look at the e-Golf as another kind of crossover: traditional cars that just happen to be electric, offering a taste of the new EV religion in soothing, recognizable garb. We had one for a week in its natural habitat, Los Angeles and the surrounding area. We really like the fact that, powertrain aside, it maintains everything we dig about the Golf. The caveat is that this is an EV first and a Golf second – you must first address the EV challenges and live within EV constraints, then you can enjoy the Golf bits. Even so, it's the electric car this writer would buy once we acquired the lifestyle to make proper use of it. The most noticeable exterior change to the e-Golf are 16-inch Astana wheels wrapped in 205-series tires that reduce rolling resistance by ten percent. Once you've cottoned on to that, the other alterations become apparent: the blue trim strip underlining the radiator grille, the redesigned bumper with the C-shaped decoration LED lights and the full-LED headlamps above them, the little blue "e" in the model name on the rear hatch. You won't notice the underbody paneling, that the frontal area of the e-Golf is ten percent smaller than that of a traditional Golf, that the radiator is closed off, or the reshaped rear spoiler and vanes on the C-pillars. Volkswagen says this results in a ten-percent drop in drag, getting the coefficient down to 0.281, but the standard Golf is also listed at 0.28. The TSI and TDI are 0.29. No matter those numbers, the point is the e-Golf looks just like... a Golf. The 12,000-rpm, 85-kW electric motor equates to 115 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, which compares to 146 hp and 236 lb-ft from the 2.0-liter diesel Golf. It takes 4.2 seconds to get to 37 miles per hour, 10.4 seconds to hit 62 mph, and the little guy tops out at 87 mph.

The VW Sport Coupe GTE Concept promises exciting things for brand's future [w/video]

Tue, Mar 3 2015

In recent years, it seems as though the Audi allotment of design talent from the Volkswagen Group has gotten braver, while the VW designers have become more conservative. One look at the current Volkswagen range reveals a lot of tidy sheet metal, but hardly any that rank as evocative or emotionally compelling. If the rhetoric around this Sport Coupe GTE Concept turns to action, however, VW's mass-marketed cars could become a lot more interesting to look at. Sharp creases and bold graphics can be found on just about every inch of the concept, and the large wheels at either extreme corner help to sell this as a "four-door coupe" more than most executions of that now hackneyed styling term. And, if you like what you see, then you might want to hold out for quickly approaching versions of this look on production models. Design head Walter de Silva says this language will be "shaping the immediate future" for VW product. Mechanically, the Coupe also previews more hybridization for the VW line. The concept has a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a turbo 3.0-liter V6 driving the front wheels, and an electric motor sending yet more power to the rear. You can read up on the details in our official post from a few days ago, or just click through the pretty pictures in the gallery above. SPORT COUPE CONCEPT GTE MAKES WORLD DEBUT AT THE GENEVA AUTO SHOW Four-door coupe marks beginning of a new design era at Volkswagen Wolfsburg/Geneva, March 2015 -Volkswagen will debut the Sport Coupe Concept GTE at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show, heralding a new and progressive Volkswagen design language. "Evolution and revolution come together in the Sport Coupe Concept GTE. This concept is based on Volkswagen design DNA, which has been visibly sharpened even more. It shows how the highest-volume brand of our Group is shaping the immediate future," says Walter de Silva, Head of Design of Volkswagen AG. Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser, Volkswagen Brand Board Member for Development, elaborates: "This breathtakingly dynamic coupe is unlike any other to appear in this class. The design of the Sport Coupe Concept GTE is an impressive alternative to the classic sedans of the B and C segments-it has the style of a sport coupe that is enriched by the functionality of a large hatchback and the interior space of a sedan." Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design of the Volkswagen Brand, adds: "The Sport Coupe Concept GTE is another milestone of expressive design.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
