1959 Volkswagen double cab.

I love this truck, however, some people asked about a price at a show this weekend and i started searching around, and found something else I'd like to drive. If it sells, I get what I want. If not,  I keep the truck I love

About the truck. It's an early sept 59. Seamed gates, but not seamed roof. Stock height, 15's, safari's, registered, insured, ready to drive home if you are ready for a road trip in a classic. It's got a very cool look, faded paint, surface rust, something you can't fake. Interior is decent, seats redone, etc. runs drives stops and is registered and insured in the state of Texas. The headlights running lights and brake lights work, the turn signals do not. Probably an easy fix and I will look into it.

The body is in pretty good shape. I bought it from some idiot that lied to me about it's condition. I got it running very well, starts every time, lol, changed the battery. Dp intake seals, tuned, timed, cap, rotor, etc. its,12v, trans is a big nut later model, so retains stock height but better gearing. It cruises 65 easily, and I've done 71mph. All the brakes are redone, new hard lines, new soft lines, new wheel cylinders, new shoes, new front drums, new bearings etc. new shocks all the way around. It grinds a little into 2nd unless you double clutch. Mechanically it's solid and ready to drive now.

It's pretty clean body wise. The corners, rockers, nose, etc are good. The front floor needs the left and right sides done, but it's still solid and driveable. The rear floor is pretty nice, no rust under the back seat and back to the firewall. That's where they always rust. That stuff is clean. The front cross member has some rust, so does the rear door bottom, otherwise it's pretty clean. The bed is super clean, except an idiot cut a little square in the bed. I have new Garson metal for it, but haven't welded it up, yet. The last gate is new and perfect, blended in. The rear and right gate are original and in decent shape, but rusty at the hinges. Cheap fix if you just want to weld em up. They function as is and I throw bikes in the back and roll all the time.

The seats are reupholstered stock by the best in the business, front and back. Door panels are nice, but i don't have thereof panels or rear door panel. Dash is uncut. Wolfgang safaris are new. One pop out latch was broken  and I replaced it with an excellent one. The speedo isn't hooked up, don't know if it works, but it's sunburnt and looks bad,I would assume it doesnt. I have been looking for a good one for a good price but haven't found it. The red and green lights do work. I added a new right side mirror. Most of these parts were bought at Wolfsburg west, ISP west or Wolfgang. I added a cigarette lighter for the GPS and iPhone, I added a pretty ridiculous stero system that will be included with the buy it now price only. Sony stereo, with Bluetooth, big JBL 5 channel amp, 2 12 inch audioque 12's under the back seat, etc.

Ive made long distance freeway trips recently with no issues. If you know an air cooled vw, if it does 65 on the freeway for an hour, it'll do it 2000 miles. That said, it's an old truck. Things happen and I can't offer any kind of warrenty. I will assist your shipper, and will even help you find one. Of course you can come check it out in Houston Texas. I do think it would drive anywhere and you would wear out before it did.

The price isn't cheap. It's a 59 double cab, it's got a great look, and it runs and drives well. Find another 59 cheaper...you can't. Please feel free to email me with questions, or very specific pic requests, but if you start wasting my time, I will stop communicating. Check my feedback, I'm solid buying and selling cars. Ithis is one of my dream Vw's, but I've found something else, a couple parties are interested and this is the fairest way for all parties involved. I get my price or I don't.

Here are 12 electric pickups in the works

Wed, Oct 21 2020

With the unveiling of the GMC Hummer EV, the list of planned electric pickups is expanding. Legacy automakers like Ford and Chevy have theirs coming, as do startups like Tesla, Rivian and Bollinger, as well as some lesser known brands. Here are all the electric pickup trucks we know to be in the works, along with a few that are being discussed or mulled over. GMC Hummer EV The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV is a first-of-its kind supertruck develop View 40 Photos We’ve seen it now, and itÂ’s the business. The GMC Hummer EV comes out swinging with 1,000 horsepower from GMÂ’s new Ultium electric powertrain program, a wealth of off-road features, a removable roof, Super Cruise and the revival of the Hummer name. WeÂ’ll see the first ones on the road next fall. Tesla Cybertruck Tesla Cybertruck at the Petersen Museum View 14 Photos Tesla revealed the Cybertruck last year with, ahem, unique styling, a number of powertrain options and a claimed range of up to 500 miles. It has a compressed paper dash, a ramp for the bed, and “shatterproof” windows. It has already racked up hundreds of thousands of reservations. It will be built in Texas. Rivian R1T 2021 Rivian R1T View 15 Photos EV startup Rivian revealed its R1T electric pickup toward the end of 2018 with a claimed 0-60 time of 3 seconds and a towing capability of 11,000 pounds. Preproduction began in September 2020 at RivianÂ’s factory in Normal, Illinois. Bollinger Motors B2 Bollinger Motors B2 side outdoors View 31 Photos BollingerÂ’s B2 electric pickup is a Class 3 off-roader with retro styling, removable roof panels, and a unique “frunkgate” with a pass-through down the center of the vehicle. It was created with both enthusiasts and workers in mind, with features that can get it to remote places (portal axles, hydro-pneumatic suspension) and to get things done (room for 40 2x4s, equipped with eight 110-volt outlets and one 220-volt outlet). Bollinger also plans to make the B2 Chassis Cab available for fleet customization. Ford F-150 Electric Electric Ford F-150 Towing View 9 Photos WeÂ’ve known this to be in the works since early 2019. Since then, details have trickled out. Back in June, Ford announced its F-150 Electric would be coming within two years. WeÂ’ve seen it pull a million pounds worth of train and trucks, heard it will have more power than any other F-150, and seen its LED-laden front end.

VW using other manufacturing locations as leverage in battle with TN [w/video]

Sat, 26 Apr 2014

We've reached a new step in the ongoing drama at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN. The United Auto Workers recently dropped its opposition to the union vote and agreed that it wouldn't hold another ballot for at least a year. Now, the new question becomes where VW is going to build its forthcoming midsize SUV.
Earlier, it had been considered all but certain that the SUV, likely a production version of the CrossBlue concept (pictured above), would be built in Tennessee. However, it seems the Chattanooga factory might have competition to produce it. In emails obtained by The Detroit News, VW's lawyer wrote to the Tennessee economic development department in January saying, "While we understand there are some 'non-deal' issues that are causing a delay in the TN solution, VW has been successful in reaching agreement on terms at the alternative locations."
As previously reported, the state of Tennessee allegedly offered VW about $300 million in incentives to build the vehicle there and create an estimated 1,350 jobs, but it later rescinded the deal. Newly leaked documents from NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV) in Nashville allegedly show just how close that offer was to being completed. It appears that VW actually sent the government the first draft of a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the incentives, but the state removed the offer in late January.

VW Chattanooga plant very close to UAW representation

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

After months of fighting from both sides, it looks like the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, might unionize under the United Auto Workers after all. According to a letter acquired by The Associated Press, VW and the UAW reportedly struck a deal last spring where the union agreed to stop its challenge of the organization vote with the National Labor Relations Board to help clear the way for the CrossBlue to be produced in Tennessee. In exchange, the automaker would recognize the UAW at the plant. Leaders of the Local 42 at the facility reportedly signed the letter.
It seems that such an agreement would clear the way for the factory to unionize after months of dispute. According to The Detroit News, under Tennessee law, workers aren't required to join the organization. Although, that might not be a problem. As of a few months ago, Local 42 already claimed to have signed around 700 of the plant's roughly 1,500 workers.
Controversy has constantly swirled around the possible unionization at the Chattanooga plant. The UAW held its official decision in February and lost 712 to 626. However, there were allegations of intense political pressure to make sure the ballot failed. A later report also found that VW was offered $300 million in incentives well before the vote to make sure things progressed to the "satisfaction of the State of Tennessee," but the deal was later retracted. In July, the UAW opened Local 42 on the campus in hopes of signing up a majority of the workforce by volunteering to be a part of it.
