Uber Cool Volkswagen Beetle Hatchback (new Beetle) on 2040-cars
Bradenton, Florida, United States
Uber Cool New Beetle.... Here's a super nice
new beetle that I recently completed. I bought this car in late 2013 with a
plan. The plan was to take a totally stock green beetle and with a few minor
changes, create a one of a kind custom beetle. Although I wanted this car to stand out from the sea of other beetles out there, I still wanted it to look as if it could have come from the factory that way when it was done.... When I bought this car it was
completely stock and in very good condition. It has a super clean Carfax, with
no accident history and below average mileage for it's year. Note: There is a reserve
on this car, but don't be afraid to bid because it is very reasonable. I need to sell this car so I can move on to my next project. As you can see from the
pictures the car is stunning. This is the opposite from what you usually see on
eBay. Usually the car looks better in the pictures then in person. This car
actually looks better in person then in the pictures! It absolutely
"Pops!" in the sunlight. The paint is a single stage Urethane. It is a
metallic dark green with a metallic black roof. The paint was applied in
February of 2014, and has a 3 year warrantee on it. The car did not require any bodywork prior to painting, and it was still wearing it's original paint prior to this paint job. The wheels are brand new Drag 17x7
with brand new Milestar Sport tires sized 225/45/17. It has brand new 1.25" lowering
springs on it that combined with the black roof really lower the profile of the
car. People can't believe this car is a '99, as it looks so current. I've been stopped in parking lots to talk about the car and for people to take pictures of it. I regularly get questioned by people next to me at traffic lights. More then once people click pictures of it as we pass on the road. It gets a lot of good attention, people know it's different, but not why it's different, so they have to ask. The car drives very well,
stops well with it's 4 wheel disk brakes. Goes well with it's 2.0 four cylinder
engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Clutch operation is nice, light and
smooth with no slipping. I average an honest 30mpg with this during my 35 mile
daily commute. Mechanically the car is completely stock apart from the lowering
springs. No silly intakes, no silly exhausts, no tacky gizmos. This car is just
the way VW intended it to be, quiet, safe and reliable, but looks oh so cool...
Hence the name "Uber Cool". The interior is totally stock and in very good shape for it's age. Remember, I started with a good car to begin with. It does suffer from the usual beetle door panel material droop. There is also some splitting on the drivers side bolster where the driver enters and exits the car. The factory stereo works, and has the stock 6 disk CD changer in the trunk that also works. All gauges work great, with no problematic warning lights showing. During my ownership the car has had the following brand new parts: Starter Catalytic converter A-arms with bushings Ball joints Struts Springs Wheels Tires Paint Wiper blades and various service items. The car comes with it's
original owners manual, two sets of keys, and a clean The last two pictures of the car are the rendering I did of it prior to beginning the work, and also a picture of the car as purchased on December 8th 2013, before work began on it. Any questions, please email
me. High bidder can fly in and drive it home. I'll be happy to meet someone at

Autoblog Minute: VW finds CO2 'irregularities', Takata dropped by automakers, SEMA recap
Fri, Nov 6 2015Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal gets a new wrinkle, US regulators hit Takata Corporation with a substantial fine, and we head to Las Vegas for a look at tuner paradise at the 2015 SEMA show. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal gets a new wrinkle. US regulators issue a significant fine to Takata Corporation. And we take a peek inside tuner paradise at the 2015 SEMA show. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. The VW diesel emissions scandal, first brought to light in September, gets a new wrinkle, as an internal investigation by the German automaker revealed [00:00:30] irregularities in CO2 emissions that could affect approximately 800,000 vehicles. VW estimates the issue could pose a 2-billion euro economic risk. VW claims that most of the vehicles affected have diesel engines, but industry analysts say a 1.4-liter gas engine is also affected. VW says that fuel consumption figures were set too low during the CO2 certification process. During all of this, sales of some diesel-powered Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche models [00:01:00] have been halted. Takata Corporation is back in the news in connection with its deadly airbag scandal. Federal regulators fined Takata $70 million. If the parts supplier does not comply, the fine could balloon to $200 million. Takata was also dropped this week by its biggest customer, Honda. And now, Toyota and Mazda will be following Honda's lead in dropping Takata. We're also hearing that Mitsubishi and Subaru are considering a switch in air-bag inflator suppliers. SEMA 2015 [00:01:30] came and went. We saw offerings from Mopar, like the AWD Challenger concept. Honda unveiled a Ridgeline that it will race at the Baja 1000, which gives us a hint at what future production model could look like. The celebrity presence was also felt in Vegas as it always is. Kid Rock brought a Duramax Diesel Chevy Silverado, and Acura restored and presented Ludacris with his now famous 1993 Acura Legend. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to come back on Saturday for my full recap, [00:02:00] where I'll have some added insight into Hyundai's foray into the luxury sector. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. Suzuki and VW finalize their divorce
Thu, Feb 11 2016The rocky divorce between Suzuki and Volkswagen is finally over after working its way through the International Court of Arbitration since 2011, according to the Japan Times. In the final settlement to end the companies' disputes, Suzuki agreed to pay VW an undisclosed amount for not living up to the agreement to use the German automaker's diesel engines. While they won't disclose the exact sum, Suzuki said in a statement that the money "will not have any significant impact" on its 2015 fiscal year results, which will end in March. The arbitration court took the biggest step to end this transcontinental partnership in August 2015 when the body ruled VW needed sell its 19.9-percent stake in Suzuki. However, the Japanese company wasn't entirely off the hook because VW was still allowed to sue for damages over the diesel engine issue. This latest decision finally clears up that dispute. Like most marriages, the union between VW and Suzuki began with stars in both parties' eyes. The Germans paid $2.8 billion to buy 19.9 percent of the Japanese company in December 2009. VW was supposed to get greater access to the auto market in India, and Suzuki hoped to capitalize on access to its partner's advanced technology. By 2011, rumors started percolating that things were contentious behind closed doors. VW allegedly tried to assert control over Suzuki's operations, and the Japanese company reportedly wasn't happy with its access to the German tech. Suzuki even bought diesel engines from Fiat, rather than VW. Later that year, company CEO Osamu Suzuki announced he would end the alliance, and they started working through arbitration. Notification Concerning Resolution of Arbitration by Settlement As Suzuki has reached a settlement regarding the arbitration that Suzuki filed with the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce on 24 November 2011, Suzuki informs you of the following: 1. History from the Request for Arbitration to the Settlement As announced in the "Notification Concerning Arbitration Award" dated 30 August 2015, the Tribunal indicated that it would address the issue of alleged damages arising from Suzuki's breach of the agreement claimed by Volkswagen AG ("VW") in a further stage of the arbitration proceedings. Suzuki reached a settlement with VW in regard to such arbitration proceedings on 10 February 2016. Accordingly, the arbitration proceedings have been concluded. 2.
If VW defaults on loans it may sell Bentley or Lamborghini
Mon, Dec 7 2015If something goes catastrophically wrong with Volkswagen Group's recent $21 billion loan, brands like Bentley or Lamborghini could hit the auction block. According to two insiders to Reuters, the beleaguered German automaker agrees with its creditors to sell assets if the company somehow can't pay back the debt in a year. One of these anonymous people claimed the company hasn't yet deliberated over what to sell. However, the sources were willing to speculate that the power engineering portion of Man could be among the first to go. "Volkswagen may also consider divesting luxury car brands Bentley and Lamborghini or motor bike brand Ducati, although these units don't really move the needle," an insider said to Reuters. VW Group negotiated with the banks earlier this week to get the massive loan. The cash is necessary as a buffer in case the automaker doesn't have enough money on hand to repair vehicles or settle upcoming fines. VW would reportedly issue bonds in the spring to begin paying the debt. The company's bills will start racking up quickly in the new year. German authorities mandate a recall there in early 2016, and repair campaigns in the US for the 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engines are inevitable. There are also hundreds of class-action lawsuits to settle. The company needs to resolve its CO2 emissions scandal in Europe, too. In response to these financial threats, VW management created a cost-cutting plan to slash the research and development budget by $1.1 billion next year.
