Hello,  I have a very nice 2006 VW convertible for sale.  The car has been babyed and only driven in warm weather and garaged the rest of the time.  We have decided to sell it as we hardly ever drive it and it needs to be driven .  Its such a cool fun car.  My wife and I bought this in 2010 from a woman in Albuquerque NM and I drove it back to CO.   The day I picked it up I had not really had any experience with this type of car but I can assure you when I drove back the 700mi to my home I learned a ton and I was very impressed overall.  This thing will fly right along and has the wide profile tires and rims and will corner surprisingly well.  I had a couple of old vws in the day but believe me this aint your grandmas vw.   Since we have owned it we have taken very good care of it and have done all the required maintenance at the dealer near us. I have replace the driver side window regulator, has a brand new battery and the tires still have good tread on them. The car runs great and all the electronics work as they should.   This bug has an amazing sound system with speakers on the dash, in the doors and in the back seat area.  Its called Monsoon and is a very high quality system.  If your not aware it also has the sport shifting system which lets you shift this like a standard type transmission so if you are in the mountains you can down shift and save the wear and tear on the brakes. Its really a cool feature in mountain or street driving and works well.  The other item that blows me away is the color of this particular car .  Apparently vw used many shades of blue for this vehicle but I believe mine is the best of them all .  It has a slight metalflake  look to it and is exquisite when you look close at it .  I looked hard to find  the convertible with the right look and this has the right look with dark blue and tan .  The tan also is cooler than black in the sun .   The tan roof shows more than the black roof but it shows way classier I think.  Never had heated seats and that is another great feature.  The outside mirrors have lights in them for the turn signals also very cool.  This car is just cool and fun and gives very good fuel economy. If someone were to buy this and take care of it I can see this becoming a classic down the road.  It just has a vibe.   Please email with any questions and Ill try to get back quickly.   We hope this goes to someone who really appreciates the car and I look forward to that person driving away into the sun with a big grin on their face and the wind in their hair.  Thanks

Interested, then not: Marchionne not 'chasing' a VW merger

Tue, Mar 14 2017

Update (March 15, 2017) : Automotive News reports that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, regarding the suggested VW and FCA merger, said in a press conference "I have no interest." He also said that he "will not call Matthias," the CEO of VW. He did add that he would be willing to entertain anything VW brings up, but he has "no intention of chasing him." Despite this, Marchionne still took a moment to reinforce his favorable stance concerning mergers and consolidation. Last week, Volkswagen's CEO Matthias Mueller effectively shut down Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's idea of the two automakers merging. However, it seems Mueller has softened, if only just, to the idea. According to Reuters, the CEO said in a press conference he is "not ruling out a conversation." However, he did say that he would like Marchionne to discuss with him directly the possibility rather than to the media. Though this statement certainly doesn't mean such a merger is happening, it's far more open than when he said outright the company isn't in any talks with anyone at the moment. His new stance also indicates that there may be people (lawyers, accountants, etc.) behind the scenes working out possible ways a merger could work. And even though this new development makes the prospect of a merger between the two companies a bit less bleak, it's still a long way from the "will they, won't they" relationship between GM and FCA. FCA's pursuit of GM involved emailing CEO Mary Barra and the threats of a hostile takeover, the latter of which resulted in some awkward statements about hugs. Only time will tell if VW becomes open enough for Marchionne to talk about hugs again. Related Video:

VW may move production because of Russia's cutoff of natural gas

Sun, Sep 25 2022

Volkswagen AG is exploring ways to counter a shortage in natural gas, including shifting production around its network of global facilities, signaling how the energy crisis unleashed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threatens to upend EuropeÂ’s industrial landscape. Volkswagen, EuropeÂ’s biggest carmaker, said Thursday that reallocating some of its production was one of the options available in the medium term if gas shortages last much beyond this winter. The company has major factories in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which are among European countries most reliant on Russian gas, as well as facilities in southern Europe that source energy from elsewhere. “As mid-term alternatives, we are focusing on greater localization, relocation of manufacturing capacity, or technical alternatives, similar to what is already common practice in the context of challenges related to semiconductor shortages and other recent supply chain disruptions,” Geng Wu, VolkswagenÂ’s head of purchasing, said in a statement.  RussiaÂ’s decision to throttle gas supplies to Europe has raised concerns that Germany might be forced to ration its fuel. Recent news that gas storage levels hit 90% ahead of schedule has soothed fears of acute shortages this winter, but Germany faces a challenge in replenishing depleted reserves next summer without contributions from Russia. Southwestern Europe or coastal zones of northern Europe, both of which have better access to seaborne liquefied natural gas cargoes, could be the beneficiaries of any production shift, a Volkswagen spokesman said by phone. The Volkswagen group already operates car factories in Portugal, Spain and Belgium, countries that host LNG terminals. Labor hurdles To be sure, any major production shift away from EuropeÂ’s biggest economy would face significant hurdles. VW has some 295,000 employees in Germany and worker representatives account for around half the companyÂ’s 20-member supervisory board. Any shift in production would likely involve a limited number of vehicles rather than wholesale factory shutdowns. While gas supplies for VWÂ’s plants are currently secured, the company has identified potential savings at its European sites to cut gas consumption by a “mid-double-digit percentage,” said Michael Heinemann, managing director of VWÂ’s power-plant unit. Still, the carmaker said it was concerned about the effect high gas prices could have on its suppliers.

Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller throws hat back in ring for VW CEO job

Tue, Mar 24 2015

Toward the end of February it got leaked that Porsche CEO Matthias Muller was being promoted to Volkswagen's supervisory board. Muller's credentials and his success over 36 years at the VW Group have, for observers, put his name in the pool of potential candidates to succeed current group CEO Martin Winterkorn when Winterkorn retires in two years. But the 61-year-old Muller told German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung earlier in February, "It's no solution to put a 63-year-old at the head of Volkswagen," and the statement was taken to mean he wasn't considering the job. Muller now says the quote was misunderstood. In a report in Automotive News, the newly minted board member says he was commenting on what it would mean for the supervisory board and the Group if they nominated a 63-year-old to replace a 69-year-old - that it wouldn't result in a "generation change." However, if that's what they choose to do, Muller feels great: "I stand ready to take over any assignment," he said. Muller's name re-enters the candidacy pool, but we still have no idea who leads the running for the role and Winterkorn isn't saying a word. It could be three years before we know: Winterkorn's contract concludes at the end of next year but there is speculation he'll re-up for two years to see out the end of the Strategy 2018 initiative.
