This car has been my wife's personal vehicle she drives back and forth to College. When my wife isn't driving it I have been driving it because of its excellent fuel mileage. We just spent well over $1200 to replace the head, timing belt, all pulleys, belt tensioners and water pump on this little Red Bug. The brake light switch has just been replaced on the car as well. The interior is in pretty good condition with minor scuffs on dash and one place on the drivers seat where the seats usually wear from the driver getting in and out of the vehicle. This little car does have a check engine and Air bag light on in the instrument cluster. The check engine light is from where the timing belt slipped a tooth and we had to replace the head, belt etc. around 4,000 miles ago. The mechanic we utilized did not have a way to clear the check engine code or air bag code on a VW, but the car runs great. I have trusted this car to carry my family of four everywhere we go without incident. My wife only wants to sell our little toy car because with two growing boys it gets a bit crowded for grocery getting and football games. The exterior of the car looks really well for a 11 year old car. That red paint really shines well and only has one little spot on the hood that the paint has a dime sized flaw. This car is sold as is with no warranty implied or otherwise, but with the timing belt kit already installed the car it should be mechanically sound for another 60,000 miles with regular maintenance. The Diesel engine purrs like a kitten and the automatic transmission shifts well too. Buyer will be responsible for all shipping costs and/or scheduling the pickup of this car. A $500.00 non refundable deposit through PayPal will be due within 24 hours of auction close and full payment within seven days of auction close. Full payment can be made with PayPal, Cashiers check from bank or cash in person.

VW boss confirms Subaru-aping Golf Alltrack for US

Fri, Nov 21 2014

Subaru needs to watch out, because the Japanese brand with a utilitarian image has a big bull's eye on its back. Not only is Acura considering going 100-percent all-wheel drive in a bid to mimic the successful automaker, Volkswagen has just confirmed that the Golf Alltrack is coming to the US as another competitor for Subaru's popular Outback crossover. Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has confirmed the addition of the higher-riding, all-wheel drive version of the Golf SportWagen to Automotive News, indicating that the model will arrive in the US in 2016. "That's what our dealers, our customers, are asking us for," he said to the industry publication. The Golf Alltrack, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in early October, has an extra 0.75 inches of ride height and protective black cladding all the way around. Its biggest mechanical differentiator from other Golfs is its Haldex all-wheel drive system, a setup that can completely unhook from the rear axle when not needed to save fuel. In Europe, the Alltrack is available with a turbocharged 1.8-liter with 178 horsepower and two diesels offering between 109hp and 182 hp. However, Horn made no mention of likely powertrains for the US. Horn tells Automotive News that all-wheel drive tooling is currently being installed at the Puebla, Mexico, factory where the standard Golf Sportwagen is built. VW might have tipped its hand about this possibility several months ago when press shots of the wagon were released for the US with TDI and 4Motion badges. Horn says he expects even the front-wheel drive version to be a sales hit here, suggesting it may eventually account for 50 percent of the Golf range's volume.

VW pulls Lamborghini and Bentley from the Paris Motor Show

Tue, Sep 20 2016

It's been slightly more than a year since the news that Volkswagen had intentionally cheated on diesel emissions testing broke. Since then, the company's reputation and image have suffered and it has struggled to regain its footing and composure. The automaker is shelling out billions in fines, so cost cutting is inevitable. Today, Reuters reports that Volkswagen subsidiaries Lamborghini and Bentley won't bring their elaborate displays to the Paris Motor Show next week. Auto shows can cost automakers millions of dollars, especially for supercar and luxury car brands that constantly try to compete and one-up with each other. Much of the money and fanfare goes to catering the media, and if an automaker has nothing new to reveal it can be difficult to justify the expense. The company told Reuters that it plans to attend smaller events that focus more on potential buyers. The Volkswagen group as a whole has shifted it's focus, both when it comes to products and auto shows like Paris. Next week, the automaker will be focusing on electric vehicles and electromobility. The company plans to reveal a new EV with 373 miles of range, eclipsing both the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt. Volkswagen has plans for 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. Lamborghini and Bentley aren't the only major automakers skipping Paris. Ford, Volvo, and Aston Martin have all decided to save money and focus their efforts elsewhere. Related Video:
