Vw Super Beetle Bug Convertible Car 1974 Model - Nice Condition!! on 2040-cars
Williamston, North Carolina, United States
POSTING FROM MY DAD: I’m 80 years old and selling my 1974 VW Beetle convertible in order to consolidate my affairs. I’ve had it for many, many years and had it repainted about 10 years ago. The paint still looks good as you can see. I’ve washed the outside but I can’t get inside easily to clean and I’m not about to try, but from the pictures you can see it’s in nice shape (a little dusty though). I’ve cranked it regularly (every week) and run it. It’s been some years since I’ve had it licensed for the road, but I can tell you it runs well, and gears work fine. I’ve driven it in our yard occasionally. The convertible top was replaced when it was reconditioned years ago as well. You can tell it still looks like-new. The body is in great shape. The metal is excellent, which is something you should look at with these older cars. Very solid throughout. The floor pans (like most beetles) needed replacement and I had that professionally done when it was refurbished (both sides). You can see the sticker still on the pan from my picture taken (some persons selling their VW’s try to cover up problems with tar or paint, mine is just as you see it and in excellent shape). Very solid car. Any rust you see underneath is superficial. Tires have excellent thread. Engine runs great. I just put a new fuel pump on it and gas rubber lines. It runs well. Glass is nice, no cracks. Chrome accent strips are in excellent shape and no bends/breaks/pitting/etc. Bumpers are solid and straight. No dents/dings in them. Steering wheel has a couple of cracks (which is typical of these cars). Dash has a hard cover on it, but looks nice. This model has a clock in the dash as well, which is rare. Brakes are in great working condition. I’d say you don’t need anything with this car to get it on the road and licensed and driving, maybe some gas. What you see is in what shape it really is. You’ll find that you can clean this car up much better and make it look so much better. This is one of the best VW Bug Convertibles you can get in this shape. You won’t be disappointed when you see it. I take cash only. I have clear title. My reserve on this auction is not high. Feel free to call me with any questions 252-792-3158 Delma. Come buy it and drive it home. This car is located in Williamston, NC. |

Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW
Fri, 14 Mar 2014The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
