VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE CONVERTIBLE 1961 / 1970 A very nice and clean Beetle convertible which was build up new in 1998. A well done job with some upgrades - 4 disc brakes and a larger 1780 engine - which runs great. There is a Photobucket available with almost 100 pictures from all areas and angles - need more just send me a mail and describe which place or area you need to see more detailed. The tire look larger than original - Chrome wheels and a spare tire without a wheel - see pictures. Transmission, brakes, steering, radio ... work nice - very tight front suspension. The safety belts could use an upgrade - they are just hip belts - no shoulder ones. The convertible top has a small rip on the left side - but not through - and in the inside is a seam open - see pictures. Pictures say more than 1000 words - you will not be disapointed. ask me all the questions - Good Luck Harry EXPORT nach Deutschland ist kein Problem - einfach melden photo IMG_7600_zps5bf79039.jpg photo IMG_7599_zps9f7682fb.jpg photo IMG_7597_zps1ec02605.jpg photo IMG_7596_zpsac326b99.jpg photo IMG_7595_zpseff58169.jpg photo IMG_7593_zpscb7aef70.jpg photo DSCN2092_zps1e3b3591.jpg photo DSCN2090_zpsdaa26f8c.jpg photo DSCN2085_zps09d8de93.jpg photo DSCN2081_zps50677c71.jpg photo DSCN2074_zpsb7c528ba.jpg photo DSCN2071_zps947d6be6.jpg photo IMG_7651_zpse8c80545.jpg photo IMG_7644_zps9cd6f25b.jpg photo IMG_7641_zpsec21b41e.jpg photo IMG_7634_zpsd8d94f9a.jpg photo IMG_7631_zps8fefd411.jpg photo IMG_7621_zps2e34f50c.jpg photo IMG_7619_zps1859ddc6.jpg

Defying Trump, major automakers finalize California emissions deal

Tue, Aug 18 2020

WASHINGTON — The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and major automakers on Monday confirmed they had finalized binding agreements to cut vehicle emissions in the state, defying the Trump administration's push for weaker curbs on tailpipe pollution. The agreements with carmakers Ford Motor Co, Volkswagen AG, Honda Motor Co and BMW AG were first announced in July 2019 as voluntary measures prompting anger from U.S. President Donald Trump. A month later, the Justice Department opened an antitrust probe into the agreements. The government ended the investigation without action. The Trump administration in March finalized a rollback of U.S. vehicle emissions standards to require 1.5% annual increases in efficiency through 2026. That is far weaker than the 5% annual increases in the discarded rules adopted under President Barack Obama. The 50-page California agreements, which extend through 2026, are less onerous than the standards finalized by the Obama administration but tougher than the Trump administration standards. The automakers have also agreed to electric vehicle commitments. Volvo Cars, owned by China's Geely Holdings, said in March it planned to join the automakers agreeing to the California requirements. It has also finalized its agreement. The settlement agreements say California and automakers agreed to resolve "potential legal disputes concerning the authority of CARB" and other states that have adopted California's standards. In May, a group of 23 U.S. states led by California and some major cities, challenged the Trump vehicle emissions rule. Other major automakers like General Motors Co, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Toyota Motor Corp did not join the California agreement. Those companies also sided with the Trump administration in a separate lawsuit over whether the federal government can strip California of the right to set zero emission vehicle requirements. Ford said the "final agreement will reduce emissions in our vehicles at a more stringent rate, support and incentivize the production of electrified products, and create regulatory certainty." BMW said "by setting these long-term, predictable, and achievable standards, we have the regulatory certainty that is necessary for long-term planning that will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but ultimately benefit consumers as well."

Volkswagen could build plug-in hybrids in China

Sun, Apr 6 2014

When you're Europe's largest automaker and your largest global market happens to be the one most notorious for its pollution (China), some solutions just present themselves. Volkswagen may be heeding that call. During the upcoming Beijing Motor Show, the company is expected to announce plans to produce plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in China, Reuters says, citing sources within the company. Few details have emerged, though the plug-ins will likely be produced at VW's Foshan factory in South China, which currently makes the Golf and Audi A3 and has plans to eventually make 600,000 vehicles annually. News has been percolating for a while, as Oliver Schmidt, general manager engineering and environmental office for Volkswagen Group of America, said last March that the company was planning at least two plug-in hybrid lines under the VW badge (and another three with its Audi and Porsche affiliates), including possibly a Touareg and Jetta PHEV. VW said late last month that it was looking to speed up development of "particularly eco-friendly models" made by Shanghai Volkswagen as well as developing a "new, very eco-friendly vehicle" with First Automotive Works (FAW). Earlier this year, VW unveiled its Golf GTE plug-in hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show. That model has a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to provide 201 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The car can travel as many as 81 miles on electric power alone.

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."
