1974 VW Standard Beetle. Body off pan rebuild intended as a daily driver, not a show car. Car runs great, but I'm looking for another project.
All rust has either been neutralized, or removed. New body door heater channels, 3" wider rear fiberglass fenders, LED tail lights, custom running boards, custom racing seats, new carpet throughout, new headliner, new windshield, all new wheel bearings, brakes drums, pads, and seals. New right rear trailing arm, wheel bearings and all new CV joints. Lowered 3 inches. Rear Hi-Jacker air adjustable shocks.
All new steering gearbox, tierods, ends, and ball joints. Custom headlights, LED running lights, New Dual stereo/CD player with Ipod/Aux adapter.
Body needs door and window rubber seals. Car doesn't have heat exchangers installed, I use a small electric heater mounted above the center console.
Engine was just rebuilt! Less than 500 miles on the engine. Increased displacement to 1776cc. Balanced crankshaft, lightened flywheel, new clutch and T/O bearing, new Mahle forged cylinders and pistons, Engle 110 grind Camshaft, Holley two barrel carburetor, Scat intake manifold, new 75 Amp alternator, new cooling fan and new electric fuel pump.
Transmission was disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled. EMPI polished aluminum shifter. Front wheels are new 15X5 EMPI 8 spoke chrome. Rear wheels are new Vision Wheels 15X8 6 spoke chrome. New rear tires. Over $7000.00 invested.
Also have original rear fenders, spare transmission, stock wheels, miscellaneous engine components.

Help a couple drive their 1984 Vanagon around the world
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Meet Brad, Sheena and Nacho
Driving through China is a pricey proposition. The couple will need to pony up a staggering $19,514 just to cover the fees.
Brad and Sheena Van Orden are in the midst of a life-defining campaign to travel around the world, and they're doing it in a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon custom built for the occasion. The past 15 months have seen the couple quit their jobs with Gore-Tex and drive from Arizona to the very southern tip of Argentina after spending a full two years saving and preparing for the trek. Now they're in southern Asia gearing up for the next leg of their journey.
VW delivers first XL1 in Germany
Mon, Jun 9 2014Volkswagen has delivered the first XL1 diesel plug-in hybrid to a customer from Berlin, Germany. Dr. Christian Malorny received his Oryx White XL1 with black and grey interior from Volkswagen Germany's director of sales and marketing for passenger cars, Thomas Zahn, at the company's Transparent Factory in Dresden. The super-efficient XL1, which first debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, is powered by a 0.8-liter, two-cylinder TDI engine and electric motor, with electricity supplied by a 5.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission. With a curb weight of 1,753 pounds and a drag coefficient of just 0.189, the XL1 is rated at 261 miles per gallon on the lenient European cycle. It is capable of traveling solely on electric power for up to 31 miles. "The XL1 has inspired me from the beginning and I am very pleased to now be driving my own," said Malorny, (translated). "With its visionary design and high-tech appearance, Volkswagen has dared something new and innovative." The futuristic XL1 seats two passengers, and can carry 4.2 cubic feet of cargo. It features a carbon fiber reinforced plastic body, and a low center of gravity. It is diminutive of stature, as you can see in the photo, measuring 153.1 inches long, 65.6 inches wide, and just 45.4 inches tall. It is being billed as the world's most efficient production car, but it's unlikely Dr. Malorny will be making his money back on fuel savings any time soon; despite the first sale and the vehicles appearing on the German VW site, Volkswagen has not officially announced the price tag for the XL1. In the past, we've heard it will cost approximately $145,000. Only 250 are being produced. Check out our drive review of the Volkswagen XL1 here or read on for more information in the Google-translated press release, below. Skoda racing Up! to Worthersee with Citigo Rally concept
Thu, 17 May 2012If you thought the Volkswagen Group was about to wind down the endless stream of concept cars based on the new Up! city car, think again. Because not only is the Volkswagen brand itself keeping the train a-moving, so are its sister brands.
Skoda has its own version of the Up called the Citigo. But what racing fans know the Czech subsidiary for best is its rally program that has become a dominant force in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the basis for VW's own foray into the World Rally Championship. Now Skoda is bringing the two together with an exciting concept car previewed by the rendering above and confirmed in the press release below.
Following in the footsteps of the tantalizing Fabia roadster unveiled last year, the Citigo Rally concept is to be the centerpiece of the Skoda display at the Volkswagen Group's annual hot-hatch gathering at Lake Wörthersee in Austria. Details are scarce, but the show car will feature rally-inspired bodywork complete with 18-inch white alloys packed into aggressively flared wheel arches, a substantial rear wing and vents aplenty.
