2001 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo 2-door 1.8l Red - Low Miles! on 2040-cars
Jackson, Wyoming, United States
Do the yellow fake flowers I bought at Dollar Tree come with it? YES. ;) This car runs great, I bought it years ago to use in my mobile windshield repair business. I am a big buffed/fat/tall dude, and it was a great attention grabber to see a guy my size get out of this car. I am 6'2" and over 250 pounds and I fit nicely in the car, even though I can barely squeeze into a Toyota 4-Runner. I sold the windshield repair business and now use a van for our new business, so I don't really need a sexy sports car until a few years ahead when I have my mid-life crisis. It runs great, looks great and is a fast & fun car. I know it probably sounds too good to be true that the mileage is only 68k, but it is true! (I might put a few more miles on it by the time you win it, but not many) The fact that you found this car is clearly proof that good things happen to good people who like to drive fast. :) I even loaned this car to my pal and fellow shooting instructor Terry Vaughan, the Top Shot reality TV star and author of The Dad's Guide to Screening His Daughter's Boyfriends. Terry isn't as famous as Elvis, but still... it would suit me fine if you added a ton of money to your bids because it has been driven by a celebrity! ;) When I have had little issues, I always take it right down to my awesome mechanics at Able Auto 307-739-8960 and they "fix it up right." I have only owned it for the last 4 years and 15k miles, but during that time it has had oil changes every 3,000 miles. The guys at Able Auto are friends, so I don't expect you to trust them to tell you honestly what they think of this car, but I actually warned Jay at Able Auto that folks might call and ask about it. I asked him to be honest and frank about what he knows about it. If you want to hire a different mechanic in the 83001 zip code to check it out, I would be happy to drop it off with them for the day. I won't tell you how I know this because I have the right not to self-incriminate, but trust me when I say that it does not have a governor at least up to 115MPH. I generally drive it around slowly and responsibly like a guy that does not want to get hassled by his former partners at the Jackson Police Department, but it might have been over 100MPH twice and handled well at that speed. I would be happy to meet you at the airport as long as you will agree to give me a ride back to my house in your awesome red VW Slug Bug! What questions do you have? :) |

VW and partner SAIC start building $2.5B Audi plant in China
Fri, Oct 19 2018BEIJING — Volkswagen AG's China joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp has started building a $2.5 billion new energy vehicle (NEV) plant in Shanghai, which will make VW's luxury Audi brand cars, a possible first for the venture. The new plant is a key step for Audi to diversify production of its cars in the world's largest car market from its long-standing local partner, China FAW Group Corp. This shift has been delayed amid resistance from local dealers. SAIC Volkswagen said the new plant would have an annual capacity to make 300,000 cars and begin production from 2020. Audi sold 481,387 vehicles in China from January to September this year. The announcement comes the same week Tesla secured a Shanghai location for a Gigafactory battery plant to serve the Chinese market. Audi unveiled the plan to bolster ties with SAIC in late 2016. Earlier this year, the Germany luxury carmaker bought a 1 percent stake in the SAIC Volkswagen venture, paving the way for the joint venture to produce and sell Audi cars. Volkswagen currently gets a larger proportion of the proceeds from the 50-50 tie-up with SAIC than from its 40 percent stake in the venture with FAW. SAIC Volkswagen said in a statement on Friday the plant would cost 17 billion yuan ($2.5 billion) and would make VW and Skoda models as well as Audi cars. It will help VW tap China's fast-growing market for NEVs, a category comprising electric battery cars and plug-in electric hybrid vehicles. VW readying two-row CUV concept for Detroit
Wed, Dec 10 2014We're likely getting yet another glimpse of Volkswagen's future crossover at the upcoming 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, in January. According to Automotive News, two anonymous sources within the automaker indicate a CUV concept will be shown there. The concept is said to be a five-passenger preview of the brand's future seven-seat model. Previous versions of the crossover have carried the name CrossBlue (pictured above), but there was no indication whether or not that would continue. The original three-row concept debuted at the 2013 auto show in Detroit, and VW followed it up with the CrossBlue Coupe Concept in Shanghai later that year. In early 2014, the company announced the CUV would go into production sometime in 2016, along with plans to invest $7 billion in North America over the next five years. During the summer, the automaker made things even more official when it declared plans to invest $900 million to build a 538,000-square-foot expansion into its Chattanooga, TN, factory to assemble the new model. Production of the crossover was slated to begin by the end of 2016, at the time. According to Automotive News, even more changes in VW's CUV lineup are on the way. The Tiguan is reportedly getting an update next year that could be joined by coupe and long-wheelbase variants, as well.
US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York
Tue, 12 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
