You are bidding on a spectacular daily driver, well on it's way to being a show car! This 1979 Champagne Edition Super Beetle is tribute to the 21 Million Beetles produced from 1938 - 2003.  It has been meticulously maintained and restored from the ground up.

Overall the car is in very good condition, no rust damage or dents, no tears or rips in seats or convertible top.  The floor pans have been replaced and thoroughly undercoated; top and bottom.  The fenders have been removed, rust treated, and undercoated.  They have absolutely no rust and have been reattached with new fender beading and stainless steel fasteners, for easy removal in the event show quality paint might be applied.

The carpet is new as are 75% of seals.  Heater boxes are functional and rust free.  No fuel smell or headaches, new fuel lines and filter.  Great tires.  Everything works and is drivable.  Engine is in good-to-great condition and runs as good as any 1600cc with fuel injection can run.

Exterior:  Exceptionally good condition as the car has been garage kept all of its life and has rarely been driven in the snow or rain.  Small dime size ding on right rear quarter panel, noted in picture, and minimal chipping / wear due to age on the paint.  All this car needs is a new paint job to be worth upwards of $24k!

Windows all work and cranks are in great condition.  Lights all work and electrical system is perfect.  Rear lights are new!

Interior: The seats and interior are in very good condition and don't have any tears or rips.  No cracks on dashboard and all dash vents work as they should.  Top is in very good condition, no issues and includes the cover, liner and padding.

Upgrades: Recently installed new front disc brakes rotors, calipers and lines.  Replaced the rear brakes, cylinders drums, and switches. New Starter, Fuel Pump.

Car drives beautifully,  no shimmy, vibrations.  Stereo has four working speakers and nice removable console

between driver's and passenger's seat.

Recent tune up and oil change;  ready to go across country.

The average retail for a car in this condition is $14,250 and this is one of the nicest you will see in this price range!  I have been driving it daily from Northern VA to Washington, DC and you can imagine the looks I have been getting.
This car will only bring back memories and any investment you make in it will be well worth it!

VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.

VW ID.4, the new Buick Envision and crossing Hyundai's N Line | Autoblog Podcast #668

Fri, Mar 5 2021

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Associate Editor Byron Hurd. It's a review-packed episode this week, but it kicks off with a discussion of Volvo's plans to electrify by 2030 and move their EV sales online. From there, they get into Greg's time with VW's game-changing new ID.4 electric crossover. Byron then talks about his time with two very different new vehicles: the 2021 Buick Envision luxury crossover and the 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line, which may or may not be a sport sedan. Finally, they tackle a fascinatingly complex twitter question: What is the best 'economy' muscle car? New investor allows Suzuki to fend off VW

Tue, Aug 4 2015

After years of legal wrangling, the long-soured partnership between Volkswagen and Suzuki looks finally to be coming out of arbitration, according to Bloomberg. As a sign of the Japanese brand's improved fortunes, hedge fund Third Point LLC recently bought an undisclosed stake in the company. The investor reported seeing a major opportunity in the successful Maruti Suzuki business in India. As an investment, the only major problem that Third Point found with Suzuki was its legal battle with VW. "The company's greatest asset is its low-cost manufacturing process for vehicles for the emerging market consumer," the fund said in a letter, according to Bloomberg. Third Point reportedly also wants a seat on Suzuki's board, despite being a minority shareholder. The alliance between Suzuki and VW goes back to late 2009. In the deal, the Japanese brand was meant to get access to cutting-edge tech, and the German firm got a helping hand towards better establishing itself in India and Southeast Asia. Things didn't go as planned, though. Less than two years later, Suzuki's boss publicly derided the deal. Eventually, the allegations started going back and forth, and the two have been working out a way to untangle practically ever since. Among the biggest issue has been how to get back the 19.9 percent stake that VW purchased. According to Bloomberg, the arbitration is now technically over. With the divorce nearly final, the two sides are just waiting on a decision on how to split things up. Suzuki may even just buy VW's stake to get the shares back.
