Up for sale is my 1979 Volkswagen Beetle. I have had this car completely serviced only a few hundred miles ago. The motor has all new seals, gaskets, rings, and runs perfect. The transmission has a new clutch. All new shocks on the front and back. Brakes are perfect and the car was just aligned. Brand New Coker Classic 2 1/4 Inch White Wall tires mounted on Brand New Baby Moon Rims ($2,000 upgrade). Extremely fun car to drive. Everywhere this car goes it turns eyes and gets compliments. If you want a great Beetle that is mechanically in excellent shape, this is it. We have updated almost everything on this car but it still has the original interior which is in good shape except for some normal wear and we did not replace the convertible top, as we never put it up, but it is still in fair shape as well. The car is very solid and only has a little rust on the inside bottom of doors. Under the car is very solid as well.

One other note, the speedometer works but the odometer is not working for some reason, but because the car is over 10 years old the miles are recorded as exempt anyway, so this does not really matter for mileage purposes.

Volkswagen looking to acquire Proton, Lotus?
Thu, 26 Jul 2012Let's say you're an automaker bent on world domination looking to grow your sales. That's going to have you looking at Asian markets, because that's where some of the biggest growth has been, and that's exactly what Volkswagen is doing as it considers making another run at Malaysia's Proton.
Reuters reports that Volkswagen is interested in at least a partial stake, if not a controlling interest in Lotus-parent Proton as a way to continue a production presence in the region without having to build its own factory.
Volkswagen already builds the Passat in a DRB-HICOM facility in Pekan, Malaysia, and plans are in place to build the Jetta and Polo there, as well. With both southeast Asia and its relationship with Proton figuring so importantly in Volkswagen's plans for expansion, buying into Proton can help ensure stability. Volkswagen is being tight-lipped about the whole idea, but CEO Martin Winterkorn did recently say, "it's our clear goal to continue the successful (expansion) course of past years with great dynamics and stability," which sounds an awful lot like deals are on the table to smooth the path to further growth.
VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC
Sat, 22 Jun 2013Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.
VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years
Sun, 26 May 2013It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011.
In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat. The plant does have the world's largest solar park, though, and you can't take that away from them.
