Has up for auction a very rare gorgeous, very low mileage 1978 VW Convertible. This is a special limited Champaign II Edition in a super rare Peach Metallic Red color. The car is in excellent condition inside and out. She has only has 24,863 documented miles on the odometer. This is confirmed by the previous owner, the Pa title and other service receipts. The owner purchased the car in 1979 when the odometer read 9,000.00 miles. She drove the car during the summers and stored it in a climate controlled garage in during the winters. They now had to sell the car because of a move to a retirement development with no garage.

The body and under carriage are flawless. The only blemish is appears on the front bumper where a small portion of the chrome is coming off. The original paint still shines like new. I still have the “Poly Gly Coat” warranty issued May 9, 1978. The white convertible top is original to the car and is in excellent condition. The original white interior is equally as beautiful. No rips, marks or defects of any kind. The only thing not original is the after market radio equipped with CD changer. Even the clock works! This special edition comes equipped with the wood grain dash and a fan for the heater/fresh air system.

The original engine and drive train is like new. The car drives strong and quiet. No issues what so ever. The car drives like it did in 1978.

This is one of the very nicest early Beetle convertibles you will ever see. Plus it’s one of only 1200 made in 1978. This beauty is only going to rise in value, so if this car interests you, then don’t hesitate to place your bids.

VW beams in Star Trek stars to promote e-Golf EV

Volkswagen just set its e-mobility commercial phasers on stunning. The German automaker has cast Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame (i.e., actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) in a new advertisement for its growing stable of electric vehicles. Even though it's in German, we think you can get the idea. VW went Hollywood and cast the two veteran actors in a futuristic-themed 45-second ad, which sees Shatner cruise up in the e-Golf (with a toothy Trek-fan kid in tow) while Nimoy rocks the XL1 and the Trek theme blares in the background. Forget for a moment that the kid in the commercial wasn't even born when Shatner started pitching for Priceline, let alone the original Trek series and just enjoy the wholesome good humor of Shatner saying that the electric powertrain is just like the one in a spaceship. If you've got any familiarity with Spock, you should be able to understand his punch line, too. VW will bring the e-Golf to the states in November at a price of $35,445, about $6,500 higher than the Nissan Leaf's starting pricetag. VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga

Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
