1977 Vw Super Beetle Convertible Older Restoration on 2040-cars
De Pere, Wisconsin, United States
You are bidding on a 1977 Volkswagon Super Beetle that was restored 9 years ago. We are a small Chevrolet Dealership located in Kewaunee,WI. We took this VW on partial trade for a Corvette. The Beetle originated in Virginia (1st owner) Came to Wisconsin 10 years ago (2nd owner) and the third owner fell in love with it. The third was the person who stuck the money in it, paint and body work 9 years ago totalled almost $10,000. The body is original with the exception of floor pans and the front fenders. We have no proof, but it is believed the miles on this Beetle are original, it shows 48,177. It runs, drives, and looks beautiful. I've personally owned a few of these in the past and before taking on trade checked all rust points, battery area, fuel tank area, pans, etc. Even though the pans where replaced, it was an exceptional job. I wouldn't say it's a show car, but it's way cleaner than an exceptionally clean driver. It's a beauty..older (9 year) restoration but needs nothing, tires are also excellent. The original color of this car was not yellow, it was Dakota Beige, also top boot included. Fuel injected 1600 is also original to the car and has had many updates, new fuel pump, etc. Heater channels are in excellent shape and the heat works. If you have any questions please call Rick at 920-388-0520 I'll be happy to help with any questions. VIN# 1572092890 On Apr-25-14 at 09:59:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of questions....receipts for the work done....yes, the receipts are being sent to us by the previous owner, almost $20,000 worth. Tires...are excellent, yes, it runs, drives excellent, I see know reason you can't drive it anywhere. Reserve...price.....I set the reserve at $9,000 On Apr-26-14 at 12:22:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Just added another photo of, basically a pile of receipts which will go with the car, they include nearly $10,000 for pan off body/paint, new fuel lines, wiring harness for engine compartment/backseat, voltage regulator, wiper mechanisms, etc. Tons and tons of work, mostly done in 2006, some stuff later, some earlier. Any questions, please let me know. A replacement trans was done at one time also. |

Ten of the greatest Super Bowl car commercials of all time
Thu, Jan 28 2016With an average of over 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl always has advertisers bringing out the big guns. And for those among us who don't know the difference between a safety and a touchback, those commercials can be one of the most compelling aspects of the annual ritual. Car companies, in particular, have a long history of making the most of the huge Super Bowl audience by debuting some of the most memorable advertisements that have ever aired on television. So, in preparation for the new batch we'll be seeing this coming Sunday, here's a collection of our favorites from the past. 10. Audi – The Godfather When Audi created this homage to the quintessential gangster movie to promote its newest sports car, the company managed to make a commercial that was simultaneously funny, a little bit disturbing, and most importantly memorable. 9. Maserati – Strike This one might start out slow, but it delivers not only with the wicked sound of the third-generation Ghibli's engine, but with an interesting message about hubris in the auto industry as well. 8. Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo – Dream Directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien), this dystopian spot has centers around a narrator who explains that in his dream the bad guys are unable to catch him despite their best efforts by way of street bikes, race cars, and supersonic jets. While the twin-turbocharged 300ZX car was certainly a performance powerhouse to be reckoned with in its day, the concept and execution of this one does come off a little bit campy now – but in a good way. Then again, it is a dream, after all. 7. General Motors – Robot This one is unique in that it's genuinely depressing on a profound level. Who would've thought that the simulated suicide of a lovable, anthropomorphic car-building robot who has fallen on hard times could be such a downer? 6. Nissan – With Dad Although the debut season of its new LMP1 racer didn't exactly turn out how the team hoped it would, there's no denying that Nissan's depiction of a strained father-and-son relationship that eventually leads to redemption (and the introduction of the 2016 Maxima) tugs at the heartstrings. 5. Volkswagen – Big Day A surprisingly poignant advert, this one might be low on dialogue but it certainly gets its message across. And just as the dramatic soundtrack begins to lull the viewer into a sense of security, our expectations are upended. 4.
Auction for first US VW e-Golf raises $41,400 for Global Green charity
Thu, Nov 6 2014Would having Jay Leno on hand have changed the outcome? That's what executives at Volkswagen might be asking after the German automaker auctioned off the company's first electric car in the US for around $6,000 over MSRP. VW auctioned off the first Volkswagen e-Golf in the US to raise money for the environmental non-profit Global Green USA. Bruce Oberg, an EV enthusiast and previous VW owner, proudly cut a $41,400 check for the car, which has a 116 miles per gallon-equivalent rating and is said to be able to go about 80 miles on a single charge. At your local dealer (depending on where you live), the e-Golf starts at $35,445. Sales start later this month in 11 states: California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Oregon, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Washington, DC. The $6,000 premium for first-dib rights for the e-Golf is nice, but it doesn't compare to what BMW worked out this summer. In August, the first i8 plug-in hybrid in the US was auctioned off at California's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for $825,000 (to an unidentified buyer). That's about six times the car's sticker price, but this special edition came with Louis Vuitton luggage and was presented by noted car buff Leno. VW's press release below. VOLKSWAGEN E-GOLF RAISES MONEY TO BENEFIT GLOBAL GREEN USA AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CHARITY AUCTION Nov 4, 2014 Winning bidder claims first VW electric vehicle as the car begins to ship to select U.S. dealerships Herndon, VA (November 4, 2014) – Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced that the auction of the first 2015 all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf has raised $41,400, with proceeds benefitting the national environmental non-profit Global Green USA and its efforts to advance smart solutions to climate change. The winner of the auction, which ran from October 8–29 on CharityBuzz.com, became the first U.S. driver to own Volkswagen's all-new, fully-electric vehicle. "Volkswagen's commitment to e-mobility and sustainability runs deep. We could not be more proud that the e-Golf has helped raise money to benefit the efforts of Global Green USA, an organization that shares in our dedication to the environment," said Michael Horn, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York
Tue, 12 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
