In the 70s when the Japanese carmakers were making inroads into the sales of our beloved Beetle,
Volkswagen started to look at ways to make the Beetle more special, and there were several different Limited Edition
versions that were produced to hopefully spark up the interest in the car buying people out there.
These limited edition Beetles are now being searched out by collectors and I think that over time
they will truly be highly prized and the vlues will increase due to their special equipment.
With that being said, what we have here is an original Sun Bug.

This car has just over 73,000 miles, California car with very very little rust, just a few small spots.
It recently has had all 4 brakes replaced with new drums.
New clutch and pressure plate installed.
Engine mounts
just tuned up new wires, spark plugs, valves adjusted
Cleaned carburetor
New fuel filter
Re built distributor
New throttle cable

The car is tuned up and runs and drives amazing and can do over 80mph!

Car drives straight, suspension is good, brakes are excellent

New tires all around.

Car needs the a few things to complete the restoration:
-Paint
-Headliner
-Sun roof crank and rear guides (currently works manually by hand) no leaks

I have done a lot of research on this car and I encourage you to do as well, If you know about these Sun Bugs, you know they can sell for $15,000 fully restored.
This is an excellent candidate, and 99% original, I have the original corded brown and tan seats, they come with the sale, the car has newly re upholstered seats and carpet.

Selling because I'm headed back to Haiti in the mission field, and I no longer have time to finish the restoration.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.

Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.

VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.
