I BOUGHT THIS 4 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS REALLY BEEN A HEAD TURNER. IT WAS JUST BUILT WHEN I BOUGHT IT, FROM THE CHASSIS UP. THE ONLY THING WAS THE WIRING HAD A PROBLEM SO I HAD THE WHOLE THING REWIRED BY A PROFESSIONAL RESTORER. I HAVE ABOUT 8800.00 IN THE BUGGY BUT KNOW I WON'T GET THAT OUT OF IT. I JUST HAD THE VALVES TUNED THIS SUMMER BY A VW MECHANIC. THE CHROME WHEELS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE ALONG WITH THE TIRES WHICH ONLY HAVE ABOUT 3000 MILES ON THEM. AS A MATTER OF FACT THATS ALL THE MILES THE BUGGY HAS ON IT. I JUST DROVE IT AROUND TOWN AND TO THE BEACH ONCE. IT HAS BEEN A VERY DEPENDABLE CAR FOR ME AND I WOULD'NT BE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. A LOT OF CARE HAS GONE IN TO THIS ORIGINAL MANX (PAPERWORK TO PROOVE). THE FRONT BUCKET SEATS ADJUST BACK AND FORTH AND LEAN FORWARD. THERE IS ONE SMALL HOLE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ABOUT THE SIZE OF A PENCIL ERASER. THE CHROME WHEELS HAVE NO RUST AND SHINE LIKE NEW. THE CD PLAYER IS BY SONY AND HAS SPEAKERS BUILT INTO THE BACK SEAT WITH TWEETERS UP FRONT. IT HAS PLENTY OF PUNCH AND DOES HAVE THE REMOTE. ALL GUAGES WORK EXCEPT THE GAS GUAGE. PROBOBLY A SIMPLE FIX BUT I JUST KEEP IT FULL. IT HAS A DIMMER SWITCH FOR THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE FLOORBOARD. THERE IS A READING LIGHT ON THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. ALL SPEEDS SHIFT SMOOTHLY ALTHOUGH IF YOU ARE ON AN INCLINE IT MAY JUMP OUT OF REVERSE SOMETIMES. IT HAS SEATBELTS UP FRONT AND ONE THAT GOES ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BACK SEAT. ALL LIGHTS AND SIGNALS WORK. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE AND HAS LOTS OF POWER. I HAVE TOLD ABOUT EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF ON THIS FINE BUGGY AND AM BEING STRAIT UP ABOUT EVERYTHING. YOU ARE WELCOME TO CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT (803)475-4798.

Jaguar Land Rover seeks to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, VW SUVs
Fri, Nov 20 2020You wouldn’t know it was about Jags and Lambos, to judge by its rather dry name: In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems. But thatÂ’s the complaint Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc filed on Thursday to block U.S. imports of Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi and Volkswagen sport utility vehicles it says are using its patented Terrain Response technology without permission. Jaguar Land Rover, a British carmaker owned by IndiaÂ’s Tata Motors Ltd., said in its filing with the U.S. International Trade Commission that the technology helps negotiate a “broad range of surfaces” and is a key feature in JaguarÂ’s F-Pace and Land Rover Discovery vehicles. “JLR seeks to protect itself and its United States operations from companies that have injected infringing products into the U.S. market that incorporate, without any license from JLR, technology developed by JLR and protected by its patent,” JaguarÂ’s lawyer, Matthew Moore, said in the filing. Representatives of Volkswagen didnÂ’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment on the complaint. Jaguar wants to block imports of PorscheÂ’s Cayenne; LamborghiniÂ’s Urus; AudiÂ’s Q8, Q7, Q5, A6 Allroad and e-tron vehicles; and VWÂ’s Tiguan vehicles. It said there are plenty of other luxury midsize SUV and compact crossover vehicles to meet consumer demand if the SUVs are banned from the U.S. Still, the premium Porsche and Audi lines provide much of the profit VW is using to fund its investments in technology for electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles and further innovations. In addition to the four brands, Volkswagen Group owns other upscale nameplates, including Bentley and Bugatti. The International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial agency that investigates complaints of unfair trade practices, like patent infringement. It canÂ’t award damages but does have the power to block products from entering the U.S. Owners of patents and trade secrets like it because it can work faster than the federal district courts -- the typical investigation is completed in 15 to 18 months. But Jaguar also filed patent lawsuits against the companies in federal courts in Delaware and New Jersey, seeking cash compensation for the use of the technology. Those cases are likely to be put on hold once the trade commission launches its investigation. The case is In the Matter of Certain Vehicle Control Systems, 337-3508, U.S. International Trade Commission (Washington).
Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise
Thu, Jan 10 2019Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative. Volkswagen finds CO2 'irregularities' for 800k vehicles
Wed, Nov 4 2015The latest issue for Volkswagen affects another 800,000 vehicles, and this time its for irregularities in CO2 emissions certifications. VW estimates this issue could cost the company $2.2 billion to fix. The company officially makes no specific mention of which engines are covered, the models they are in, or even where they are located. VW discovered the situation during its ongoing internal investigation, and, according to the automaker, "it was established that the CO2 levels and thus the fuel consumption figures for some models were set too low during the CO2 certification process." Most of the affected vehicles are diesels, and the company is now reaching out to "the responsible type approval agencies" to figure out the next step. While VW isn't officially confirming which models and engines are involved, Automotive News reports that it affects some 2012 and later VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda models with the company's 1.4-, 1.6-, and 2.0-liter diesel engines, as well as the 1.4-liter ACT gasoline engine. The issue mainly affects vehicles sold in Europe. "The Board of Management of Volkswagen AG deeply regrets this situation and wishes to underscore its determination to systematically continue along the present path of clarification and transparency," CEO Matthias Muller said in the announcement. Volkswagen Group of America spokesperson Jeannine Ginivan was able to provide some further clarification to Autoblog. "This is not related to US-certified vehicles," she said. Clarification moving forward: internal investigations at Volkswagen identify irregularities in CO2 levels Matthias Muller: "Relentless and comprehensive clarification is our only alternative." Around 800,000 Group vehicles could be affected Initial estimate puts economic risks at approximately 2 billion euros The Volkswagen Group is moving forward with the clarification of the diesel issue: during the course of internal investigations irregularities were found when determining type approval CO2 levels. Based on present knowledge around 800,000 vehicles from the Volkswagen Group could be affected. An initial estimate puts the economic risks at approximately two billion euros. The Board of Management of Volkswagen AG will immediately start a dialog with the responsible type approval agencies regarding the consequences of these findings. This should lead to a reliable assessment of the legal, and the subsequent economic consequences of this not yet fully explained issue.
